Re: James Webb Space Telescope again delayed

Here's another brief update on research by the Webb ...

https://www.yahoo.com/news/james-webb-s … 00779.html

The text is brief ... there is some animation ... not too deep but possibly interesting ...

The James Webb Space Telescope has set it sights on Trappist 1 system's innermost planet, Trappist 1 b. It has discovered that “the planet’s dayside has a temperature of about 500 kelvins (roughly 230°C), and suggests that it has no significant atmosphere,” according to the ESA/Webb team. Re: James Webb Space Telescope again delayed

Budget questions can be asked JWST, SLS and MSR however JWST is giving great results

very expensive and delayed but successful, and it had a clear objective and an end goal in sight, it is causing a revolution of sorts in the science and astronomy books with new findings

Some of the best unfiltered breaking news is on jwstfeed, they also link to videos

Re: James Webb Space Telescope again delayed

Here is a report on Webb's study of Uranus ...

https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/19/world/we … id=ios_app

The report includes mention of the naming of some of the moons after Shakespearean characters including Puck.

That's an interesting way to make a living .... naming astronomical objects.

Re: James Webb Space Telescope again delayed

Despite the delays and the budget over-runs,  this thing worked,  and without the need for any corrections like Hubble.  Otherwise,  it's the same story of delays and over-runs as Hubble,  but justified in the end by fantastic results.  Congrats are certainly due!
