The latest film suggested that Dinosaurs might be cold adapted.

However I think that they should be looking at alpine conditions as well. Dinosaur and Mammal adaptations may have had advantages there as well. I believe that there were supposed to be some huge mountain ranges at times.

I have been watching video's of certain types of birds on the internet. Cockatoos, and Indian Ringnecks.

Cockatoos, are thought to have an intelligence of a 5 year old, and an emotional intelligence of a 2 year old.

Unless with a very special kind of person I don't think that they should be kept as pets.

I am thinking of them as a sort of less intelligent alien though. One that is at hand. Some of them talk if they want to. Sometimes it looks like more than mimic talking.

They have one dominant foot that they more use as a foot and one foot that they can also use as a hand.

So, they have some similarities to humans, up to a point. But are also different, and so alien. Close enough to sort of figure out something about how they think, but still quite different.

My understanding is that they do not do well in microgravity, as they have major problems to swallow without gravity.

I think that these animals can be an important calibration point for our understanding. Whales are too different from us, perhaps Apes too similar. Some of these birds offer yet another point that we might partially understand, and yet things that are odd to us. Real aliens could be any of those things.

They can be amusing to watch on video.

There are some other ones.

They are extremely demanding, loud, and destructive from what I understand. They have to have a minimum of 4 hours of attention a day.

Sometimes I get interested in things, and don't particularly know why. But often then I think I find something.

I think that flying birds think very fast. Their baud rate is fast, I think.

And so that could be a communications barrier between humans and them. To them we may be "Slo-Mo".

My reason to think that is observations of what might be real bird/human activity in these video's.

I have wondered if a computer could be created to stimulate these birds, and to communicate with them in their real time? Then perhaps that same computer could interpret to some extent to us in our comfortable time / Baud Rate.

It is unlikely that humans will ever do a face to face with Aliens, it would probably be a foolish or uncomfortable thing.
But, a computer interface might help. Of course in a Sci-Fi story you might have an evil "HAL" computer.
HAL might lie in it interpretations.

I understand we are not going to be talking what we think is high thinking with birds. When they took to the air, they gave up large brains. And for whatever reason, our rats, have never allowed them to have big brains on the ground.

Perhaps that is because they leave vulnerable nests with eggs and babies. The rats love that.

But should they have ever by some method have escaped the predation of mammals, maybe they might have come along more.

Perhaps the right size land mass absent mammals, for the right period of time.

But I think they have been getting gut punches ever since the asteroid strike.

Granted, I am not sure I would like to be at the mercy of intelligent Dinosaurs.

I guess that is not likely. Being nesting and flying, the brain can only be so big, but it can be faster, probably for a price.

A curious question is why do they almost universally favor beaks instead of teeth? It does not seem to apply to mammals.

On another alien word perhaps flying and big brains might make sense, relative to ground crawling, and a big brain.

Not sure how often that could happen. Maybe thick atmosphere, low gravity, but it seems that might be a tall order.

From this article, it appears that only 3 or 4 bird types survived the extinction event. All of the survivors had beaks and not teeth.

Beaks are lighter, and also develop more quickly in the eggs.

I have presumed that bird brains having to be lighter, they might be quicker, or more efficient. But I don't know that is true. And so, I think baud rate of bird brains might make it more possible for us to understand them. Possibly we a slow and boring to them. Perhaps they have trouble keeping there attention span compatible with that of humans.

Some birds though do talk to some degree, or can, and some do use tools to some degree.

These birds are loud and want lots of attention and will provoke a human to get it in any way they can. That can include biting, so if they do bite the owner has to try not to give a strong reaction.

They supposedly have the intelligence of a 5-year-old human and the emotional intelligence of a 2-year-old. So, they cannot be expected to not act out.

I believe that sometimes these birds will talk and sometimes not so much. You cannot make them talk.

They need a very large amount of care and I think some can live in captivity for 80 years.

They are less full of bacteria than humans.

You should not touch them anywhere except their head, and I suppose their feet. If you do pet them that way, they can get hormonal and go into a mating mode and start nesting and being territorial. This can be dangerous for the females as egg laying can be a danger/stress.

I like them, on the internet as they are quite alien to the human body type but do have some ability to speak and can use their dominant foot as a "Hand". The other intelligent creatures such as mammals have male and female secondary sexual features. They do not have hands, only a mouth to grasp things. Octopus are too alien and do not live very long. Canabals as well, I think.

The birds have a Cloaca, unlike Mammals. Although it may be that some birds like Ducks are different????

Anyway, these birds are very alien to humans in many ways but have some critical similarities. This might point to how intelligent aliens may also be very different but have some critical similarities. (Maybe).
