Well, maybe going bald will help your case. Shave your head and find out.

Re: I'll take malaprops for *5* Bob - Apropos of Nothing continues. . .

I just watched some newswoman go on about "pirates" in the Gulf of Aden. Pirates! Good Lord, how the mighty have fallen: some "pirates" -- HARUMPH! -- they got their tails whipped by the Love Boat!
wickedcoolstuff_1868_104421774.gifPretty weenie . . .

Did you know that a shortage of pirates causes global warming? Scroll down about 4 or 5 paragraphs.

You may be interested to know that global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters are a direct effect of the shrinking numbers of Pirates since the 1800s. For your interest, I have included a graph of the approximate number of pirates versus the average global temperature over the last 200 years. As you can see, there is a statistically significant inverse relationship between pirates and global temperature.

But oddly enough short pirates cause global warming.

Best belly laugh I've had all week Bill -- and I'm a Christian!

I am Roman Catholic, which may or may not be deemed "Christian" depending on one's politics.

Anyway, our ability to treat Genesis as allegory, spiritually and poetically true but not literal science exceeds as back as far as, oh maybe, Saint Augustine.   wink

PS- from the FAQ, I love this:

5. You are making God angry.

I doubt it. If there's a god, and he's intelligent, then I would guess he has a sense of humor.

Go back and read it again.  Genesis directly follows the scientific theory about the origin of the universe.

Re: I'll take malaprops for *5* Bob - Apropos of Nothing continues. . .

Heehee, yes itunes is cool. I don't have a creditcard (not that unusual in Europe) so i mainly use it to rip my cd's and make playlists to transfer to my old first-gen minidiskplayer...

Oh, and there are some truly fantastic podcasts around, only that feature alone makes iTunes a must-have, IMO... The numbers of avaiable 'casts are booming like mad.
Maybe time to start a NewMars podcast or two?  (Me thinking about the "you're a first Martian settler, dramatized as a radio spiel, heehee...)

Seriously, all the hype aside, podcasts are the new blogs, regarding "spreading the news of the non-governmental hordes"... Now virtually everyone can make its own 'radioshow'
I predict vidcasts, soon... The technology is there... It only needs a framework to make it *really* easy to spread. Flickr for video and all that...

Re: I'll take malaprops for *5* Bob - Apropos of Nothing continues. . .

I have an I-pod. I used it once.

I have one of those mac laptops. I used it once.

I have a credit card. I used it too many times to buy things I use only once.

I have since cut up the credit card and use the things I have bought with it as very exspensive paper weights.

I have never bought a song off of I-tunes because, knowing me, I would only listen to the song once.

Stupid technology. Stupid easy credit. Stupid short attention span.

Re: I'll take malaprops for *5* Bob - Apropos of Nothing continues. . .

I'm a bit puzzled you didn't buy a laptop, Mundaka... You being our ultimate road-warrior and all that.

Hmmm... maybe start a podcast topic, ask around. Things like BWhite for instance doing conferences, he could tape stuff...

but you'd need someone with
a) broaband (the non-capped-kind, sigh)
b) some knowledge of audio montage
c) a big inbox to receive mp3-ed stuff.

(flash... Remember the 'We love BobZuuuu!' song CC had? would be a nice jingle  wink )

So we should start with the podcast and see how it flys and move from there. First topic? Anyone?

30 seconds on Mars.

Funny folks those Pastafarians. Great at parties.

New Mars podcast eh, there's an idea. If anyone decides to head it up I could probably contribute some stuff and maybe edit audio if needed. Perhaps a relevant musical selection or two as well.

Re: I'll take malaprops for *5* Bob - Apropos of Nothing continues. . .

I'm totally unaware re: the hosting side of 'casts... Can one host it somewhere specialized or can you do that even from your own computer? (not practical of course)
And what about bandwidth? Can Josh look into that to do it 'here' (I mean via the server used for newmars and the wiki)

New topic needed, this is hijacking malapropostrophes...

but where? Outreach? Or make a subgroup etc...

Re: I'll take malaprops for *5* Bob - Apropos of Nothing continues. . .

Okay, now that's just a really cute idea. NewMars podcasts. What would they be like?

And who could serve the bandwidth (we only have a 40gb a month transfer, and we use 5gb of that)? I think it'd get popular quick. Rxke, if you make a new topic do it in Free Chat, the other "activist" forums don't get attention.
