Re: Impractical way to cool Venusian Atmosphere.

For Void ...

I have a copy of Blender for Dummies, which I picked up from a local computer store.  It is available from Amazon, either new or (apparently) from used book outlets for about half price.  If you decide to start with Jason van Gumster's offering, I can provide suggestions for sections I have found most helpful, although I must say that Gumster does a pretty good job of making a very complex subject approachable.

Blender is not for the faint of heart, which (I am hoping) you will find stimulating rather than off-putting.  It is designed to create animated movies, and there are many examples of impressive work available to view on the Internet.  It contains animation of physics, for games or for scientific simulations.

However, it also works for simple 3D object design, which is how I've been using it for several years.  The challenge I am dealing with for JoshNh4h is designing a wall for the pneumatic tower that is cylindrical in overall shape but very thin, but with lips that curl inward at the top and outward at the bottom. You can download a draft blender file by looking for S e a r c h T e r m :   and  : B l e n d e r
Use Author tahanson43206

Take out the spaces between characters, of course.

If you just click on the link, you'll get a message about the blend file not being viewable.  You have to import it into Blender.

A crude drawing of the cross section of the proposed design is available at Dropbox using this link:

Thanks for your story about how you found yourself maintaining software in several languages!

At first, I thought you might have meant human languages, but (upon reflection) I decided you may have been referring to computer languages.

I would expect such variety in a laboratory environment, with each researcher preferring the flavor of the week and building entire applications using it.

I am interested in your offer, already discovered that it is associated with python.  I will get back to you.

I really might prefer to buy a Coyote suit and trespass on GW's ranch yikes

But I will think on it.

Really thanks, I will look it over.

Quack, Quack.

Re: Impractical way to cool Venusian Atmosphere.

Don't be very impressed.  Some were industrial script languages, becoming respectable.  Maybe VB Various. Stupid dos crap.  Stuff like that.

But I will ponder your suggestions.

Just now I have at the prow of my boat the notion of being a snowbird, but no coyote suits in my future, Texas perhaps, maybe Florida, maybe Arizona.

And I have other things to be concerned about.  I have had sores on my arms and shoulders.  I think that they are on the wane.  Went to a doctor, scared silly that it was cancer.  He said that if they healed, it would not be cancer.  Sent me to a skin specialist.  The she(s) took a look and said that typically sores like that on the arms and shoulders were caused by stress.  So, yes, I have developed a desire for a very quite life, and although I do things that are ridiculous for someone my age at the gym, I avoid stress as a religion.  But I could perhaps use a new experience if paced for a person in my state of being.  So, thanks.  Perhaps as a snowbird I can have a programming hobby.  Haven't done any programming for a few years now except in my dreams, where my good old dog with a new multicolor sweater also appears.  And my mother.  I bet she nit that sweater.  smile

Good Dreams.  I like good dreams.

Done.

For Void #27

You have provided challenges for my social skills!

I'll begin (because I am an optimist) with the hope that your medical advisers are now, and will be, inspired with wisdom, and that the right answers will become available to you sooner rather than later.

You've indicated an intention to relocate on the surface of the Earth, to (perhaps) avoid the worst of winter's onslaught, but I note with some dismay that current news reports show heavy snows in both Arizona and Texas, although (I admit) soon both of these states will be baking in summer heat.   While the climate of Mars seems (to me) to be somewhat subdued compared to Earth, it has plenty of challenges, so perhaps it is just as well you might consider Florida.  However, if you DO consider Florida, the option of living on/in a floating home is available.  From news reports, I gather that courageous individuals have been fighting bureaucracy for the right to live permanently on water.  Eventually (unless I miss my guess) almost everyone living in (or above) Florida will be doing so on floating accommodations.

Now I have good news (of a sort) .... Working with Blender is not programming, in the strictest sense.  The programming is done by those who support the package.  I hoped that an allusion to programming in the context of Blender might appeal to someone with a programming background.  However, the challenges of instructing the subroutines on offer to create plans for realization of 3D objects seem (to me) so similar to those of instructing subroutines to perform a business activity that they are essentially the same.  In both cases great bunches of neurons are exercised, although perhaps different bunches are called into action.

The advantage of learning to "program" in Blender is that results can be seen in animation, if that is your interest, or in the form of physical objects if that is the direction you choose to go.

Re: Impractical way to cool Venusian Atmosphere.

tahanson43206  Thanks for your concern.  My arms are getting clear.  And I have had it for some years.  If it was that serious, I am sure it would have propagated to be a threat to my life.  Not so far.  I had a large breakout on my shoulders and back after I went for 3:30 minutes into a -150 degF chamber without a shirt.  (Cryotherapy) But that seems to be healing now.  Cryotherapy is supposed to be good for some skin conditions, and arthritis, and sports injuries.  Old guy pain as well.

Thanks for introducing me to Blender.  I think it could be a bit fun to try to make things that I can picture in my head.  Then possibly to use it as a method of communication.

But for now, I have serious matters to attend to.  But I will look it over some more later.

Done.
