So what are thoses Entitlement Programs

Welfare Programs include 13 separate programs to fight poverty (see U.S. Welfare Programs) and the Medicaid Program which provides health care to low-income Americans.

which are under the Social programs in the United States and to whom is to blame for them The Shocking Truth on Entitlement spending is the highest in history, and both parties are to blame why does it cost so much Entitlements are the biggest government programs in the US.

The programs vary in eligibility requirements and are provided by various organizations on a federal, state, local and private level. They help to provide food, shelter, education, healthcare and money to U.S. citizens through primary and secondary education, subsidies of college education, unemployment disability insurance, subsidies for eligible low-wage workers, subsidies for housing, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, pensions for eligible persons and health insurance programs that cover public employees. The Social Security system is sometimes considered to be a social aid program and has some characteristics of such programs, but unlike these programs, social security was designed as a self-funded security blanket - so that as the payee pays in (during working years), they are pre-paying for the payments they'll receive back out of the system when they are no longer working. Medicare is another prominent program, among other healthcare provisions such as Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program.

So

the U.S. Constitution or Alexander Hamilton’s writing in Federalist Paper No. 68, which states that the meeting of the electoral college “affords a moral certainty, that the office of President will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.” their job is not necessarily to certify the results, but to have a reasonable discussion over whether the public made the right decision.

is meaningless to you as its “not intended to be a rubber stamp.”

How can he violate that clause if he is not President yet? You cannot convict someone of a crime that has not yet been committed. No one gave Donald Trump any gifts while he was President of the United States because he hasn't been President of the United States, and he won't be President of the United States until he I sworn in on the steps of the US Capitol building at 12:01 pm on January 20, 2017. All of Trump companies are privately held, they are not required to publicly publish their tax returns, there are no stockholders in Trump's companies, they are family businesses, Much as SpaceX is, you cannot buy stock in SpaceX.

Re: Emolument Clause

Still the conflicts of interest keep rolling in when Eric Trump’s business trip to Uruguay cost taxpayers $97,830 in hotel bills

When the president-elect’s son Eric Trump jetted to Uruguay in early January for a Trump Organization promotional trip, U.S. taxpayers were left footing a bill of nearly $100,000 in hotel rooms for Secret Service and embassy staff.

It was a high-profile jaunt out of the country for Eric, the fresh-faced executive of the Trump Organization who, like his father, pledged to keep the company separate from the presidency. Eric mingled with real estate brokers, dined at an open-air beachfront eatery and spoke to hundreds at an “ultra exclusive” Trump Tower Punta del Este evening party celebrating his visit.

The Uruguayan trip shows how the government is unavoidably entangled with the Trump company as a result of the president’s refusal to divest his ownership stake.

So what is this weekend going to cost the Amercan people as he will charge us for staying and using his own property...

The president will attend the Red Cross Ball at his Mar-A-Lago estate, and a Super Bowl party at his Palm Beach golf resort And Both Benefit His Businesses. Given that Trump earns income from both of these properties, his decision ― as president ― to attend events there creates the appearance that he may be using the presidency to increase the visibility, prestige and financial value of his clubs.

Re: Emolument Clause

There is a firestorm coming to this nation as we become more devided and are undermining the court of this land to which is one of the balancings of power that the founding fathers for saw was needed to keep monarchy control from happening.

It’s not just Donald Trump feuding with the courts. States are doing it, too.

As President Trump escalates his confrontation with the judiciary branch in tweets and speeches, lawmakers in some half a dozen states are testing their state courts' independence with actual legislation.

Bills have been proposed in Florida, Washington state and Idaho to allow those legislatures to override certain court decisions. In Arizona, the House passed a bill that would give the legislature the power to prohibit state courts from enacting federal court decisions. A series of bills are advancing in Oklahoma to increase the legislature's power over the courts, including a retirement-age restriction that would effectively wipe out most judges currently serving on the state's appeals court.

The trend is also alive in Wyoming, where a bill to strip the courts of the power to hear any cases involving K-12 education funding recently passed the state Senate. Most of these bills are championed by Republican lawmakers in Republican states. But in Hawaii, where every state senator is a Democrat, a bill is advancing to give the Senate power to decide whether to reconfirm judges for multiple terms in office.

So be prepared for crime to continue to increase as there is no penaly for committing it as the protection via the constitution is erroded by those passing legislation barring it.

"This notion that a legislature can just override a court ruling is quite radical," said Alicia Bannon, who is with the nonpartisan Brennan Center for Justice. "What this does is really shift power toward political institutions in a way I think should make people worried about the ability of courts to enforce the Constitution and protect people's rights."

There has been a stepped up efforts to capture illegals regarless of sanctuary or in a church.... Raids across the US leave immigrant communities and activists on high alert

While I might agree with this action is a little to late as it should have been happening all along with regards to those that committed major crime once here. But then again we should do the same to Trump’s Labor Nominee Hardee’s And Carl’s Jr. Got Caught In An Immigration Audit Under Trump’s Labor Nominee Before Andy Puzder adopted Trump’s hard line on immigration, his chains’ restaurants had to cut loose more than 1,000 undocumented workers.

Last month, President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing Homeland Security to prioritize the removal of people in the United States illegally who had criminal convictions. In addition to speeding up the deportation of convicts, Trump's orders also call for quick removal of people in the country illegally who are charged with crimes and waiting for adjudication as well as those who have not been charged but are believed to have committed "acts that constitute a chargeable criminal offense."

Mexicans Vow to Fight Trump by Jamming U.S. Courts, Influential Mexicans are pushing an aggressive and perhaps risky strategy to fight a likely increase in deportations of their undocumented compatriots in the U.S.: jam U.S. immigration courts in hopes of causing the already overburdened system to break down. Group says it will urge compatriots targeted for extradition to fight in court; government allocates funds.

The looming conflict between Trump’s immigration sweeps and religious freedom

With this will be more targetting of those non white it would appear which is going to further escalate the issues as Trump continues to push for a ban as he is citing national security for it....Sure not....Deporting mothers and fathers of families with children are going to create the next American born terrorist instead......

Re: Emolument Clause

Rose colored glasses when the GOP has been caught in the issues of the past administrations supposed wrong doing....That the GOP is just as at fault for what has happened..
Every event that he holds at his properties is opening the door even wider for President Trump and his assorted emoluments issues, a lawsuit had been filed and there was some question of whether the plaintiffs had any standing to proceed. There is now reason to believe the standing issue will be resolved and that there is a relatively easy way forward. The Emoluments Clause, as you will recall, is to be found in Article I, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution. It provides that “no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state.”

This must be fake news by kbd512 and Tom's view point....

Re: Emolument Clause

I am sure we have some that will not care that we are paying for Trumps visits to his resorts to play golf but for those that want numbers here is the article.
Donald Trump’s Secrets and Hypocrisy ... About Golf Also, the president has repeatedly been accused of cheating at the game.

Since becoming president, Trump has played a lot of golf. Specifically, he has made six trips to the golf course in 30 days. This has caused some people to suggest Trump might be a hypocrite. The White House, which seems sensitive to those allegations, has responded by keeping the press and the public in the dark about Trump’s golfing ― sometimes literally, like on Feb. 11, when administration officials made an AP reporter wait in a room with black plastic over the windows while the president played golf.

First the cost for his days off should be his problem and not mine as I am not paid for my weekends...

President Trump's Mar-a-Lago getaway could cost taxpayers $3M
Flying Air Force One alone is said to cost $200,000 an hour.

Paying for President Trump's travel and security costs

Which cost the locals money as well...

With every presidential visit, there are also added costs imposed on local governments playing host. The Palm Beach Sheriff’s office estimates they pay $60,000 in overtime pay each day when President Trump is in the area. During the Thanksgiving holiday, the county had to absorb $248,000 of overtime wages because Trump was in town. Palm Beach and New York City have asked Congress to help recoup the costs of protecting Trump between Election Day and his swearing in. New York City requested $35 million and Congress eventually allocated $7 million. The New York City Police Department says it spends $500,000 a day just to protect the president’s midtown residence at Trump Tower.

So what wll it cost over the first cycle as president?
Trump family's lavish lifestyle could cost taxpayers hundreds of millions over 4 years

Trump's three Mar-a-Lago trips since the inauguration have likely cost the federal treasury roughly $10 million, based on figures used in an October government report analyzing White House travel, including money for Coast Guard units to patrol the exposed shoreline and other military, security and staffing expenses associated with moving the apparatus of the presidency. In New York, the city is paying $500,000 a day to guard Trump Tower, according to police officials' estimates, an amount that could reach $183 million a year. Earlier this month, The Post reported that Secret Service and U.S. embassy staff paid nearly $100,000 in hotel-room bills to support Eric Trump's trip to promote a Trump-brand condo tower in Uruguay. The Defense Department and Secret Service, for instance, have sought to rent space in Trump Tower, where leasing a floor can cost $1.5 million a year - though neither agency has disclosed any details.

What this all means is Trump’s Already On Track To Cost You More Money Than Obama Did His Entire Term

Enough is enough this is robbery....

Re: Emolument Clause

Here is another ouch, do not read Tom as you will not like it....as words matter....

Judge to Trump: No protection for speech inciting violence lawsuit by three protesters who say they were roughed up by his supporters at a March 1, 2016 rally in Louisville, Kentucky. They argued that Trump didn't intend for his supporters to use force.

Two women and a man say they were shoved and punched by audience members at Trump's command. Much of it was captured on video and widely broadcast during the campaign, showing Trump pointing at the protesters and repeating "get them out." Judge David J. Hale in Louisville ruled Friday that the suit against Trump, his campaign and three of his supporters can proceed. Hale found ample facts supporting allegations that the protesters' injuries were a "direct and proximate result" of Trump's actions, and noted that the Supreme Court has ruled out constitutional protections for speech that incites violence.

"It is plausible that Trump's direction to 'get 'em out of here' advocated the use of force," the judge wrote. "It was an order, an instruction, a command."

‘Our Dishonest President’: L.A. Times editorial eviscerates Trump

“It was no secret during the campaign that Donald Trump was a narcissist and a demagogue who used fear and dishonesty to appeal to the worst in American voters,” wall-building, Muslim-ban-promising, “unqualified and unsuited to be president” and said his election would be “catastrophic for the nation.”

The Times pointed to Trump’s executive order on immigration among “dozens of real-life steps that, if they are not reversed, will rip families apart.”
“Many Republicans, for instance, support tighter border security and a tougher response to illegal immigration,” the Times explained, “but Trump’s cockamamie border wall, his impracticable campaign promise to deport all 11 million people living in the country illegally and his blithe disregard for the effect of such proposals on the U.S. relationship with Mexico turn a very bad policy into an appalling one.”

Massachusetts city council to vote on Trump impeachment resolution based on alleged conflicts of interest.

The resolution states, "That the City Council call upon the United States House of Representatives to support a resolution authorizing and directing the House Committee on the Judiciary to investigate whether sufficient grounds exist for the impeachment of Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, including but not limited to the violations of the Foreign Emoluments Clause and the Domestic Emoluments Clause of the United States Constitution."
The resolution -- which is largely symbolic -- follows similar calls to action by other city councils, including Richmond, Virginia; Berkeley, California,; and Alameda, California.

dated Jan. 19 -- the day before his inauguration -- Trump wrote, "I, Donald Trump, hereby resign from each and every office and position I hold in the entities listed." More than 400 entities were listed in the 19-page document.

Trump changes relationship between White House, spy agencies

The White House's handling of intelligence reports on the Russia investigation has been labeled unorthodox and, to the Democrats, suspicious. Trump's White House is facing allegations that it funneled secret intelligence reports of the investigating his campaign's possible ties to Russian officials as well as Moscow's interference in the 2016 election..

Smell the coverup coming...Not so fast as Congresswoman: I want to talk impeachment as Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters had some choice words for President Trump, saying Trump has done some outrageous things since becoming president -- including "concocting a scheme" with House Intel chair Devin Nunes

Trouble is under foot for Trump as Counselor Steve Bannon removed from National Security Council role, others added

With Russian spy Evgeny Buryakov deported from United States who posed as a New York banker
2013, Podobnyy attempted to recruit Carter Page, who later served as a foreign policy adviser to Donald Trump's presidential campaign, as an intelligence source.

The travel ban has also had several Lawyers subpoenas for emails and other records for if Trump tries to bring it to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is scheduled to hear the case May 15. The relevant time period should start on June 16, 2015, when Trump declared his presidential candidacy, The state lawyers also asked for cooperation from the Justice Department should they seek to serve subpoenas on Trump, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, White House staff or witness with a federal security detail.

The more troubling thou is the attempts still going on to erase Obamacare such that House Prepares to Leave for Recess Without Health Care Deal for a two-week break without reaching an agreement.

The issues still separating them include insurance regulations. Conservative members want to get rid of regulations imposed on insurance companies that they say drive up the cost of health care but ensure that sick people maintain health care that covers an array of procedures and preventative care.

Moderates, meanwhile, are opposed to stripping the regulations, concerned that too many people would lose coverage and that the cost for sicker and older people would become too great.

Congress will return from recess with a crowded agenda that starts with the need to pass a funding measure to prevent a government shutdown. They'll also have to consider a debt ceiling increase and would like to also tackle tax reform.

April 28th is the end of the continuing resolution....

Not the proper place to do this as Upcoming U.S.-China summit at Mar-a-Lago burnishes Trump brand “The combination of a perceived abuse of office to enrich himself and the irony of it happening while he is recommending deep budget cuts for public services - I think resentment will build,” to which Trump can pocket money from businesses at any time, raising more ethics concerns

Just more money laundering.....

Re: Emolument Clause

GW Johnson,

You have a point. Trump appears determined to get himself impeached. One issue is business ethics and government ethics are often in complete conflict. In business, you always find a way to make profit. If you broker a deal between two other parties, find a way that you profit yourself. A condition for closing a big deal could be a discount for a second, smaller deal. But the big business deal could be between the other parties (individuals or business), but the second smaller deal is for yourself. For the second party, that means big profits for the big deal, and discount only for a much smaller deal. For them that means profit. For the broker, he makes money through the discount for the small deal. The broker could be someone who doesn't have anywhere near the resources for those involved in the big deal, but the small deal is still very significant compared to what he has. This is normal in business. However, when a President does this, it's called "emoluments". That's a violation of the constitution, and grounds for impeachment.

From a business perspective, if you invest as much money as a presidential election campaign, then you must get direct return on investment that is greater than said investment. For business, it's unethical to not recover your investment. For a President, manipulating government to gain profit above the President's salary is unethical. Trump charging the government for using Trump Tower as an extension of the White House, and charging for vacations to Mar-a-Lago is something that business ethics will absolutely require. Under government ethics, this is a conflict of interest and unethical.

But impeachment requires a simple majority vote in the House of Representatives, then a trial in the Senate with the chief justice of the Supreme Court presiding. The Senate then has to vote 2/3. With a Republican majority in both houses of Congress, that will be difficult.

Current conflicts with Russia: it looks like the US started it. One US political talk show said Putin blames Hillary for 2011-2013 protests in Russia, known by some western media as the Snow Revolution. Putin's current interference with western elections is retaliation. He didn't just interfere in the US, he also did with German, French, British and Dutch elections. (reference) This is tit-for-tat. Hatfield vs McCoy. You can't just demand Russia stop without doing so yourself. Trump wasn't involved in 2011-2013, so he's in a position to end it.

Seems like fake news is about to bite back as Evidence Found of Russians Planting Fake Hillary Emails Then Leaking to WikiLeaks

400+ Trump Docs Leaked, Russian Money Trail Found to RNC, McConnell, and Other Top Republicans

The information therein is quite damning for the GOP stalwarts involved, and also further paints an incriminating picture of the Trump administration as related to possible Russian collusion.

Those who aren’t coming out of this looking good include the entire Republican National Committee, Senator Ted Cruz, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Senator John McCain, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, among others.

A Mitch McConnell super PAC took $2.5 million from a pro-Putin Ukrainian businessman last election cycle.

Marco Rubio took $1,000,000 from pro-Putin Ukrainian businessman – last election cycle.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker took $1,000,000 from a pro-Putin Ukranian businessman – last election cycle.

The RNC received a $20,400 contribution from a Russian real estate executive in 2008.

Re: Emolument Clause

President Trump seems to be increasingly pushing the Secret Service away. He’s recently banished them from their command post at Trump Tower, and then most recently during his golf vacation in New Jersey. When a Private plane belonging to a Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, who has very close connections to Vladimir Putin, arrives in New Jersey for Trump’s Golf Vacation President Pushing Secret Service Away. That leads to the burning question of whether Donald Trump is keeping the Secret Service at arms length because he wants to avoid agents witnessing his interactions with anyone who shows up at his golf resort during the course of his current vacation. So is Trump pushing away the Secret Service because he wants to eliminate the possibility of witnesses? .

More of that same racism but now its against a different race....

Woman attacks Asian-American service member in racist tirade: 'Go back to f---ing China' against an Asian-American service member in a parking lot in California.

Ahn's passenger recorded the incident and Ahn posted the video on Facebook earlier this week after the altercation.

"As I changed the lane, she kept driving towards my car gesturing to crush me and cutting in front of me to slam on the break," Ahn wrote Monday. "I later realized that this was more like a hate crime than a road rage."

The woman's freedom of speech - although hateful -is protected by the First Amendment, investigators determine that no crime was committed.

"What we have here is hate speech," Bosques said. "And we met with her and she does not deny that she did any of this.

More than 60 Dem lawmakers demand ethics investigation into Trump's relationship with China following the president's recent push to rescue Chinese telecommunications firm ZTE. ZTE was banned by the Commerce Department from buying tech components after it violated U.S. sanctions by selling equipment to North Korea and Iran.

In the letter, lawmakers say the business dealing between the Trump Organization and China may have violated U.S. laws forbidding public officials from accepting payments or gifts from foreign entities without Congress's approval.

"The Chinese government's loan provides a clear financial benefit to President Trump," the letter reads. "Despite the nearly unanimous recommendation by legal experts that he divest from his business interests before assuming the presidency, he failed to do so, instead placing his adult children in charge of day-to-day operations."

Trump still holds interests in his businesses via a revocable trust - an arrangement that allows him to draw funds at his choosing - the president will be able to oversee the project and "earn a profit if it succeeds," according to the letter.

Re: Emolument Clause

Judge-says-emoluments-suit-against-Trump-can-proceed.jpg

Watchdogs insist that Trump is violating the Constitution whenever his hotels or golf courses receive a payment from a foreign government

Federal judge: Democrats in Congress can sue Trump in emoluments case found that lawmakers have adequately shown that they have suffered harm from the president’s alleged violation of the clause.

Constitution by doing business with foreign governments while in office.

The emoluments clause bars presidents from accepting gifts from foreign and domestic interests without consent from Congress.

The case argues that the president has received foreign government favors, such as Chinese government trademarks for his companies, payments for hotel rooms and event-space rentals by representatives of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and proceeds from Chinese or Emirati-linked government purchases of office space in Trump Tower.

“President Trump has been violating it repeatedly with impunity and now we as members need to hold him accountable.”

“The Clause requires the president to ask Congress before accepting a prohibited foreign emolument,” Sullivan wrote. If the allegations made by Democrats are true, he wrote, then “the president is accepting prohibited foreign emoluments without asking and without receiving a favorable reply from Congress.”

Judge says emoluments suit against Trump can proceed

Judge Denies Trump’s Request to Dismiss Emoluments Lawsuit

The ruling was a step toward empowering Congress “to hold the president accountable,” said Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, who originally filed the lawsuit along with Representative Jerrold Nadler of New York. Nearly 200 Democrats joined them.

Mr. Blumenthal said that the president has violated the clause by collecting trademarks from China, rent paid by foreign governments at his real estate properties worldwide and government approvals for his business dealings. He also suggested that Mr. Trump’s businesses may have collected payments and benefits that are unknown to Congress.

If Judge Sullivan finds that Mr. Trump has violated the emoluments clause, congressional Democrats can ask for information in the discovery phase of the lawsuit about any foreign benefit related to his global business dealings, including payments, trademarks, intellectual property and regulatory advantages.

“We can look at his books and tax returns in order to determine what emoluments he’s accepted,” Mr. Nadler said. If evidence of financial fraud is found in the course of discovery, Mr. Nadler said that information would be made public and turned over to law enforcement officials.

“This gives Congress an opportunity to invoke our congressional right to make sure that the president is loyal to the U.S. and not to his own pocketbook,” Mr. Nadler said.

Re: Emolument Clause

‘It breeds resistance’: Even among conservatives, Trump’s use of presidential power causes alarm particularly in matters of national security, is increasingly unsettling an array of legal scholars, including conservatives, who say it risks corroding the office of the presidency and has roiled relations between the White House and other agencies.

Those that have comitted crimes are said to be by Trump “a very good person.”...to which every thing is Fake News and refers to the rest as ‘witch hunt,’ all followed by cases of fraud in which he and his siblings did commit.

New York Times says Trump helped parents shield millions from taxes

The Times, citing a “vast trove” of confidential tax returns and financial records, reported that much of that fortune came to Trump because he helped his parents evade taxes, setting up a fake corporation with his siblings to disguise millions of dollars in gifts from their parents and it is unlikely Trump would face criminal prosecution because the acts were past the statute of limitations. There is no time limit, however, on civil fines for tax fraud, according to the paper. Trump has declined to release his tax returns.

Re: Emolument Clause

SpaceNut,

He's a Democrat who "#walkedaway" and became a Republican.  That's his major conflict of interest.  He finally recognized that the Democrat Party has absolute nothing to offer the American people in the way of useful domestic or foreign policy.  It doesn't matter if you think that's the problem or not.  I'm here to tell you that "no policy" is the exact problem.  "I hate Trump" is not a policy of any kind.  You can ignore that completely and pretend there is one, choosing to continue this losing strategy, or learn from it and demand your party come up with feasible domestic and foreign policies that are better than the ones President Trump has.

Re: Emolument Clause

Notice that Emolument is capitalized and present is not.   That strongly implies the more formal of two meanings used at the time.  One, an official fee for an official job, versus any gain whatsoever for whatever, which is almost never, ever used.
