The official spin from the White House, dutifully repeated by all of President Donald Trump’s Republican enablers, is that Kremlingate is a big nothingburger. Or as White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Fox News Tuesday night after the shocking dismissal of FBI Director James Comey: “I think the bigger point on that is, my gosh Tucker, when are they going to let that go? Unfortunately for the White House, this air of nonchalance is belied by a man who is in a far better position than a deputy press secretary to know what actually transpired during last year’s campaign. So Did AG Sessions Violate His Recusal by Advising on Comey Firing? Legal experts say Sessions may have indeed violated his own recusal standard, though the unusual issue is by no means clear-cut. Sessions, who has said he has had no improper contact with the Russians, concluded after meeting with DOJ ethics lawyers in March "I should not be involved in investigating a campaign I had a role in."

You mean John McCain don't you? Do you know what happened to the Republican Party in the wake of Watergate? Nothing good! Well John McCain is trying to instigate a Watergate on his own party. Well it looks like John McCain rode on Trump's coat tails in 2016 to be reelected to a sixth Term in the US Senate. Has John McCain shown any appreciation for that fact? Nope! He was hoping that Hillary Clinton would win and all the fine Republicans in his state would elect him anyway, maybe splitting the ticket, voting for him and then Hillary, then Hillary could teach John McCain to fetch, roll over, and play dead, and then she could reward him with a bowl of dog food, of perhaps a doggie treat if he acts as a real good "lap dog" for the Democratic Party. In all honesty, why should the Republicans vote for such a fake Republican as John McCain? If they wanted to vote liberal, they could elect a Democrat, John's next election is in 2022, I'm getting a feeling this is going to be his last term in office, I don't think the Arizona Republicans will be played for a sucker one more time.

Senate panel subpoenas Flynn for Russia docs, Comey reportedly requested help for Russia probe days before being fired and with that Trump's decision to fire Comey raises questions in even the republican ranks.... So you think that if you search hard enough, you can always find it even if its not there? How much money do you think NASA should spend searching for UFOs that are alien spaceships? How much money should the Federal Government spend on Loch Ness Monster research? These things are not proven to exist, does that mean we should search harder, or redirect our efforts to more productive avenues? The Democrats are using the fact that no evidence was found as a reason to keep on searching, but we can't prove that UFOs are alien spaceships either, does that mean not enough money was spent to investigate these claims. How about paranormal research, should we have a real Ghostbusters? How much money should we spend on quackery?

The official spin from the White House, dutifully repeated by all of President Donald Trump’s Republican enablers, is that Kremlingate is a big nothingburger. Or as White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Fox News Tuesday night after the shocking dismissal of FBI Director James Comey: “I think the bigger point on that is, my gosh Tucker, when are they going to let that go? Seems that the Democrats hated James Comey until Trump decided to get rid of him! Have you seen this interview with Maxine Waters? The Democrats sure do have a tough time explaining themselves. Chuck Schumer was calling for James Comey to resign, until Trump fired him, and now Chuck Schumer is complaining about that! What do you call Chuck's knee jerk opposition to the only President from New York since FDR was last President of the United States? In stead of trying to help his fellow New Yorker to be a memorable President, Chuck Schumer is being an oppositional impediment, thinking only about the perceived good of his party and not of his country or state! Chuck Schumer is not a loyal American, he is a Democrat trying to gain power instead!, It looks like Chuck is facing another reelection in 2022 just like John McCain. If New York Voters only want a Democrat to win and don't care about the results other than that, they can vote for Chuck Schumer in 2022! But personally, I would like to see Chuck get chucked! politics is not a game for the average voter, it is not a sport where they can sit on the sidelines and the result does not affect them except for bragging rights!

But there is no evidence of wrong doing except for the part where a private American citizen was unmasked.
You know what the standard is, "Innocent until proven guilty!" No Witch Hunts! It is a waste of government resources to pursue improbable and unproven leads. The FBI should not b investigating UFO or Bigfoot, of anything else where their is no evidence, there are people who swear they have seen a UFO, its only that their film was over exposed, or the UFO flew too fast, or the UFO zapped his camera with a ray beam, and that is his excuse for presenting no concrete proof of a UFO sighting. So I say we should treat the Russian connection just as we would a UFO sighting, there is no proof after seven months of investigations, and the FBI's resources are limited, there are murders to investigate, and investing time and money in this political witch hunt is taking away resources from criminal investigations.

Re: Politics

This is government beauracracy ats its deepest time in slow motion.....

waiting to hear whether he will be granted one of only 10,000 visas that are reserved each year for immigrants who are victims of crimes and agree to help law enforcement solve them. Nearly two years after his U visa petition was filed, he has no choice but to continue to wait. On March 18, 2004, he and his brother were attacked and stabbed with box cutters in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, by two other undocumented men.

Not so fast....

U visa holders may eventually petition for permanent residency and help their family members stay in the U.S. as well.

The number of U visas granted hovers around 10,000 each year, according to USCIS. But the number of U visa petitions nearly tripled from 2010 to 2015, from 10,742 to 30,106, according to USCIS.

So a back log that is not taken care of...

Re: Politics

Tom won't like this,  but I say Mr. Trump needs no help from anybody to get himself completely discredited.  There is no hidden "presidential person" in him able to behave better than during the campaign,  there is only Donald Trump.  What you have seen all along is EXACTLY what you got!

He is a person abysmally ignorant of how things really need to be done,  especially in government,  although that same lack explains his 6 bankruptcies-of-record as a businessman,  until he became that sort of fraudulent showman that is a "reality TV star".  This is accompanied by a completely-unwarranted arrogance about his own infallibility,  plus a tendency to severely-bully underlings (except perhaps not those from his own family).

The worst of all is that he demonstrably neither perceives,  nor cares,  about the distinction between truth and lie,  fact and fancy.  No foreign leader not equally ignorant can possibly trust anything this man says.  We certainly cannot,  here at home.

Ignorance+arrogance+bullying-of-underlings+total-disregard-for-truth = complete incompetence = a recipe for disaster as a president,  or pretty much anything else except a P. T. Barnum-style showman,  a synonym for complete fraud,  as is well-known.

The safety and security of the country is at serious risk because of his incompetence.

Whether he or his campaign ever colluded with the Russians to screw-up our election is irrelevant to what will happen anyway before he can finish 1 term,  in my opinion.  He will eventually be impeached for gross,  egregious,  incompetence that actually threatens the safety and security of the country.

Whether the word "treason" is ever used makes no difference.  Whether he is actually convicted by the Senate,  or resigns like Nixon,  makes no difference.

This will NOT happen quickly.  Much of the GOP has not given up on him yet.  His core voters have not given up on him yet.  But as he fails to deliver,  eventually they will.  Not until then will it happen.  If my opinion is wrong,  he might get a second term.  But he won't complete it.  That's my prediction.

The 2018 mid-terms are going to be extremely interesting.  We'll see if the Democrats can reverse their decades-long sell-out to giant corporate interests,  and actually champion the common working man once again.  The longer they fail to do that,  the longer this travesty continues.  THAT will determine whether he serves part of 1 term,  or part of a second.

Re: Politics

SpaceNut,

Stores that sell crap people don't need at prices they can't afford are closing?

Somewhere George Carlin must be dancing a jig.  Is it possible that working Americans have figured out that they don't need to buy into the steaming pile of self-serving garbage that Hollyweird freaks work over time trying to shovel into their soft heads?

It must be another Trump conspiracy to take jobs from the working man.  Whatever will the little slave children in foreign countries who turn out the disgusting trappings of Western decadence ever do?  Maybe go to school and learn to think for themselves?  We can't have any of that.

President Trump is probably sick and tired of this Russia nonsense.  He can't be the dumbest person alive and some sort of criminal spy mastermind at the same time.  So far, everyone responsible for getting evidence (you know, that stuff of which none exists that proves President Trump did anything but fart in the wrong direction in this Russia circus) is rolling a big fat donut.

The Democrats need to either show the public the hard evidence they have that President Trump or his campaign staff colluded with the Russians to win the election or admit what's so blatantly obvious to the rest of us.  The Democrats are butt-hurt that a reality TV show star beat Wonder Woman in the last election cycle because she was the worst candidate the Democrats have ever inflicted upon themselves and no amount of personal belief and wishful thinking was ever going to get her elected.  That was the losing campaign strategy, just in case anyone is remotely interested in "change you can believe in."  The Democrats thought personal belief and media hysteria would win elections and convinced themselves that they knew what they obviously didn't.

A Democrat was on national TV a month or so back.  He said that even if the special investigator finds no evidence of collusion with the Russians, he still wouldn't accept the result of the investigation.  That's a tacit admission that this is nothing more than an attempt to disrupt the federal government with the Democrats' fantasies about how the last election was supposed to end.

President Obama wasn't impeached after the FBI determined that his Secretary of State was stuffing state secrets in her personal mailbox or after she sold Uranium to the Russians, nobody seemed to care about his Justice Department's gun running scheme that lead to the deaths of their own employees, nobody seemed to care about his National Security Advisor lying to Americans about Benghazi on national TV or spying on President Trump, and nobody cared about President Obama's attempt to re-write immigration laws.

Only the Democrats care about whether President Trump talked to some Russians.  If he's a Russian spy, I'm the Queen of England.

Honest man?  What fantasy world do you live in, SpaceNut?  You won't find any completely honest people in DC and we still can't find a Democrat who knows fact from fiction even after it hits them in the face like a load of Trump.

Some interesting facts. His conclusion is the extreme opposite of the extreme that he's arguing against. I believe in a more modest middle ground. This video starts with a harsh criticism of Bill Nye based on an issue that has nothing to do with the subject of the video, but if you skip past it to 1 minute he has some points.

Re: Politics

I used to support the global warming thing. Then "climate warriors" started claiming all fossil fuels have to stay in the ground. They want to shut down all coal mines, all oil wells, all tar sands (now called oil sands), even all natural gas. They want to shut down all pipelines. The obvious answer to that is a loud and resounding "NO"!

I live in Winnipeg Canada. We have actual winter here. Without a heat source of some sort, people die. The City has one electric bus. They City held a job fair last winter, I attended. They had a couple buses on display, including the electric bus. I mentioned I used to work for the city, and used to work for the factory where the buses were made. The mechanic got excited, wanted to recruit me to be a bus mechanic. I told him I worked in I.T., not the factory floor. But I actually knew what I was talking about, so he answered my questions and showed me the inside of the engine compartment. It used lithium ion batteries with liquid coolant so the batteries don't get too hot. In winter that coolant system is used to keep the batteries warm, so the batteries don't freeze. The bus is warmed with a small furnace that burns diesel fuel, to keep passengers warm. And that furnace is the source of heat to keep the batteries warm. So even an electric bus uses diesel fuel in winter.

If you look at global warming data over land, not including ocean, then the planet's temperature dropped from 1855 to 1970. Scientists have reconstructed global temperature from 1550 to 1855. That showed slow but steady global warming. The industrial revolution started 1855, so prior global warming is due to nature. If you assume global warming would have continued at that pace if humans hadn't messed with it, then the temperature on year 2000 was the same as it would have been. That means all the rapid global warming from 1970 to year 2000 simply undid all the man made global cooling from 1855 to 1970. And the rate of global warming dramatically slowed from year 2000 to about December 2014. My assertion is that isn't a coincidence. Humans stopped using as much coal, shifted to oil, and put scrubbers on remaining coal burning plants. The rapid global warming of the last 3 decades of the 20th century was the planet recovering from 115 years of man-made global cooling.

Some people panic at the extreme weather we're having. But if you talk to actual climate scientists, they will tell you that for thousands of years weather was this chaotic. Weather was unusually reliable and consistent during the 20th century. That was not normal. In fact, that was not a coincidence. Factories and coal-burning power plants built large smoke stackes. Initially in the 1800s factories spewed soot all over the community near them. People complained so they built smoke stacks higher, which blew the soot father away. People who's homes got that soot then complained, so they built smoke stack even higher. Eventually they built smoke stacks to produce an up-draft to draw smoke and soot into the clouds. That would rain down, but it would be so far from the factory that no one could complain. All this was in the 1800s. Well, those smoke stacks didn't just spew smoke and soot into the clouds, it went right into the lower stratosphere. The stratosphere doesn't mix well with the troposphere, so anything that gets into the stratosphere takes decades to settle out. The smoke and soot in the stratosphere acted as a blanket. It blocked the sun causing surface cooling, but it also blocked radiant heat loss. What heat did exist did not radiate into space because the smoke and soot in the stratosphere acted as a blanket to keep it in. That meant unusually reliable and consistent weather. Now that we've cleaned up the stratosphere, we have this planet's natural weather.

So I have news for you: this erratic weather is our planet's natural weather. Welcome to planet Earth.

Re: Politics

NASA used radar satellites to measure ice melting in Antarctica. With all the ice shelves melting and disintegrating, the question was how fast. To their surprise they found ice on land was actually increasing! Glaciers around the word are melting, ice shelves floating on ocean water around the coast of Antarctica are melting, but ice on land on Antarctica is increasing. That increasing ice compensates for melting ice. The result is ocean levels are increasing, but not nearly as fast as "Climate Warriors" claim. If you watch the video, it says according to actual climate scientists, the rate of ocean rise is 11." over the next century. That's almost a foot. During the last century ocean levels rose by 7" inches. Last century we managed to deal with 7" inches of sea level rise using wooden cart wheels and sand bags; the thought of dealing with 12" inches during the age of nuclear power, hydraulics and reinforced concrete at the very beginning of the next century of engineering and technological progress, that's clearly climate denial insanity.

Comey details 'inappropriate' and 'very concerning' meetings with Trump pressed him for "loyalty," of course the Senators not satisfied with intelligence officials' testimony on Trump conversation Rogers, whose response was similar to the other officials, insisted that he doesn’t "feel it’s appropriate" to speak publicly about private conversations with the president.

Texas Democratic Rep. Al Green to Start Process to Impeach Trump. Green, who plans to make a formal announcement on Wednesday, has maintained that Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey on May 9 constituted obstruction of justice. Articles of impeachment are simply a statement of allegations; the president can be impeached only by a majority vote in the House, which is controlled by Trump's fellow Republicans.

I did see a good question in that Could the Stress of a Trump Presidency Make Americans Sick? Thinking back to Reagan’s economic strategy for the country, there were large cuts to health and social services. The consequences were as a result of the magnitude of the cuts: 500,000 people lost welfare, a million people were dropped from food stamps, 600,000 persons lost Medicaid, 250 community health centers closed, a million poor children lost reduced price school meals. Which is exactly what is happening with the direction of the current administration..

Re: Politics

Comey accused the president and his top aides of lying. He suggested that the president wanted special treatment in exchange for loyalty. Trump was not a target of an FBI investigation when Comey led the bureau. But Comey’s words and actions since being fired make it more likely that he is one now. More than four decades ago, President Richard Nixon wasn't a subject of a criminal investigation in the early stages of the one that eventually forced him from office.

http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politic … ng-n769941

Legal experts are divided. While many agree that Comey's testimony suggests Trump acted inappropriately, they point out it would be much harder to prove he acted illegally since obstruction of justice requires proving Trump's intent — never an easy task. To which the Trump tapes would put an end to that in short order.

Comey took notes of his conversations with the chief executive because he feared that Trump would lie about them, and accused the White House of spreading lies about why he was ousted. According to multiple reports, the president has asked several top intelligence officials to intervene with the probe.

President Donald Trump committed a federal crime by lying to Comey about his connections to Russia and activities on his 2013 visit there. It’s a crime to lie to a representative of the federal government. Thus, Mueller can now investigate the possibility of a criminal charge against Trump if he had any connection to Russia.

Re: Politics

Of course with any testimony there are lots of questions and sometimes even legal questions arising from James Comey's testimony which is at a count of 6 for the Q & A

Already said House Intelligence Committee requests Comey's Trump meeting notes, White House tapes which if these are missing, destroy or deleted is a crime under federal law as this is part of record keeping.

Of course there is those that say Comey was just out to get Trump that he is against President Trump's as the former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski calls James Comey 'the deep state in Washington' since there are leaks.....call it what you want it is a form of whistle blowing and that is what Snoden did as well about the role of the NSA existence.

That said the Senate Judiciary Committee asks for copies of leaked memos as to the act content that was sicne some what a criminal charge if anything is classified secret, sound like a doctored document with added in the context markings for the classification, which sound all so firmilar...

Though the congressional net has been cast pretty large its just the beginning as there are so many characters in this Russian play of collusion as New York AG's office investigating Eric Trump's charity to which that same A.G.’s office is still investigating the Donald J. Trump Foundation since the fall and that case remains open.

Re: Politics

Trump will hoist himself by his own petard,  I have no doubt about that.  The only question is how long this farce will continue before his rabid supporters see how he has deceived them,  and abandon him.  The dumber they effectively are,  the longer this will take.  1 term,  2 terms,  who knows?

Ultimately he will step into treason.  That will be the impeachment ground.  He has already damaged our alliances in Asia and especially Europe and NATO.  That is something the Russians (as Soviet and post-Soviet) have tried to do for decades and failed. Now Mr. Trump has done this job for them,  and that has been witnessed by millions.

How is that damage to our alliances and NATO not providing "aid and comfort to the enemy"?  According to the US Constitution,  providing aid and comfort to the enemy is one of two ways to commit treason,  and such treason only requires 2 witnesses (or a confession) to convict.

Re: Politics

The perversion of Trump to mayor of sinking island: Don't worry about sea level rise caused by global warming is threatening the existence of the tiny community of Tangier Island, Virginia, located in Chesapeake Bay. Since 1850, the combination of sinking land and rising seas has caused 67 percent of the island's landmass to be lost. Whether the mayor sees it or not, the ocean is rising due to warming waters and melting land-based ice sheets and glaciers caused in large part by human emissions of greenhouse gasses. Nature doesn't care whether one believes in a phenomenon in order for it to take place.

Remember there was no problems with the election...not.. as Russian hackers broke into voting systems in almost every US state, report claims in fact 39 states....

The US investigation into the incident started in Illinois, where hackers accessed as many as 90,000 voter records. These records include names, dates of birth, genders, driver’s incenses and partial Social Security numbers, according to Ken Menzel, general counsel for the Illinois board of elections.

Re: Politics

Some media outlets are trying to paint the gunman as a democrat gone party on the congressmen while others are indicating that it was just A Trump Hater or anti-trump... had more names written down as targets in pocket.

On other news the pipeline still is in a battle stage as Judge orders environmental review of Dakota oil pipeline Which all was reversed by Executive order to move forward on building the pipeline and to ignore law that was stopping its building. US Army Corps of Engineers did not fully consider the effects of a possible oil spill on the fishing and hunting rights of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe.

Fake News, Fake News, Witch Hunt ...NOT. Trump acknowledges for first time he's under investigation as part of the expanding probe into Russia's election meddling.

Re: Politics

Yes the election is over but what the hackers did target was personal information data bases to which there was evidence that things were altered. Here’s Yet More Evidence That The 2016 Election In Texas Was A Mess

A new report says people waited in line to vote for up to three hours at one polling place. With confusion over their polling place, registration status and the documentation required to vote as caused by controversial 2011 voter verification law. In April, a federal judge ruled the law was designed intentionally to discriminate against black and Latino voters. At least seven of the state’s 254 counties still displayed signs during early voting saying a photo ID was necessary to vote. Most of the voter ID-related incidents reported involved election officials telling people they needed a photo ID in order to vote.

This is how just what we caused can effect your personal information.
Whie here is another...
A Republican National Committee database of nearly every voter was left exposed on the Internet for 12 days, researcher says
a spreadsheet of nearly 200 million Americans on a server run by Amazon's cloud hosting business that was left without a password or any other protection.

Of course it has not stopped there as many other data bases of personal information have been hacked as well.

The president signed an executive order Friday to revive a council last in place in 1993.
President Donald Trump is forming a National Space Council to be led by Vice President Mike Pence.
Trump says the announcement sends a clear signal to the world about the United States' leadership in space. He says space exploration would help the economy and national security.

Members of the council are to include the secretaries of state, defense, commerce, transportation and homeland security, as well as the head of NASA, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the national security adviser and the director of national intelligence. The council will also draw on insights from scientists and business leaders.
