The video animation shows a concept for an Ares V heavy-lift launch vehicle placing, in this case, an 8-meter monolithic telescope into an orbit around the second Sun-Earth libration point. The planned performance of the Ares V, one of the largest launch vehicles ever developed, will permit even larger deployed or assembled systems or launches of multiple telescopes of various kinds.

Ares V Launch Capability Enables Future Space Telescopes (PDF) - 26 Sep 2007
NASA’s Ares V cargo launch vehicle offers the potential to completely change the paradigm of future space science mission architectures. A major finding of the NASA Advanced Telescope and Observatory Capability Roadmap Study was that current launch vehicle mass and volume constraints severely limit future space science missions. And thus, that significant technology development is required to package increasingly larger collecting apertures into existing launch shrouds. The Ares V greatly relaxes these constraints. For example, while a Delta IV has the ability to launch approximate a 4.5 meter diameter payload with a mass of 13,000 kg to L2, the Ares V is projected to have the ability to launch an 8 to 12 meter diameter payload with a mass of 60,000 kg to L2 and 130,000 kg to Low Earth Orbit. This paper summarizes the Ares V payload launch capability and introduces how it might enable new classes of future space telescopes such as 6 to 8 meter class monolithic primary mirror observatories, 15 meter class segmented telescopes, 6 to 8 meter class x-ray telescopes or high-energy particle calorimeters.

Just think about that. How much usable interior space would a Bigelow/Transhab module built to fit into a 12m shroud provide?

My research says that the one with the 12m shroud is too tall to fit through the VAB door. I think the height restriction is somewhere between 127 and 130 meters? Perhaps they are considering fitting the fairing cap post-VAB?

Yep. Just under that graphic in the document it says the VAB doors are 122m high. Ares V will also sit on the mobile transporter!

about the measurement systems confusion... in the Ares-V specs NASA doesn't use "mT" for metric tons but "MT" that sounds as "MILLION TONS"...

and the Ares 1-X test may show too much acceleration (in some points of the flight profile) to be NOT compatible with human flights (and not possible to solve due to the solid rockets' nature) that's why I've suggested to do the 1-X test NOW than lose a further year to know that it's a bad choice

that's possible since NASA has changed the order of launch from Ares-1 first to Ares-1 last to avoid the risk of a failures due to a "sum-of-delays":
