Mission Planning

The purpose of this new topic in Index: Interplanetary transportation, is to collect resources that may be helpful in planning actual missions from Earth to Mars or anywhere in the Solar System.

The post immediately after this one shows an organization which appears to have won a NASA contract for planning a Lunar mission.

Re: Mission Planning

Much relies on launch capability, building blocks to make what we need and where we need it, mission objectives to long term goals, duration of mission with safe return or choice of one way, and crew size along with how large mission build ups will occur. Destination drives many things for the size, number of building blocks and other prevents needed for long term goals.

Here is the building blocks which I put together quite some time ago.
Human Business and flight plan for mars and even for the moon or Venus in the long run....

Re: Mission Planning

For SpaceNut re #3

Thank you for the timely reminder of the topic you created for Business Planning for activities away from the Earth.

That topic is perfect for development of a complete business plan for an enterprise set up to provide end-to-end delivery service, as proposed using the Balloon Dead Stop Delivery system in another topic.

This topic was (is) intended for planning a single mission, such as the proposed Earth/LEO to Mars/Phobos trip under discussion in the Phobos topic.

The details of navigation of a space craft from location to another in the Solar System are an important but minor part of an overall business plan.

A viable business plan MUST include capabilities that meet requirements at each stage of a service to be provided.
