Re: The "forbidden zone" on Mars

This zone near South Pole is full of strange things, similar to vegetation and lakes. However it is accurately avoided by Hirise Imaging project. We have only MOC low resolution images.

Quite strange for me....

All the rest of Mars is "dotted" with photographs![/img] Why?

Re: The "forbidden zone" on Mars

Wait 6 months to a year and see then. smile

Unless you have an official statement from hirise saying they are not photographing that zone, then I think your statement might have a bit more weight. Not that you can't make it of course.

BTW, I believe the real reason the south pole isn't taking much precedence is simply because we are looking for water geologic features, which, the further south you go, are less and less visible.

Give them time, they'll get some shots of the south.

The amount of solar radiation reaching the surface of the earth totals some 3.9 million exajoules a year.

MRO has been busy imaging the North pole to help Phoenix find a landing site. Phoenix will launch in 4 months.

Re: The "forbidden zone" on Mars

(Jul,8 2007) It seems that the FORBIDDEN ZONE is still unphotographed...  maybe a coincidence. But I don't think so...

Let's wait some more time and see what happens  :?  :?  :?
