*Various astronomy web sites are giving notice of Mars occulting a faint star (TYC 6174-00681-1 with a magnitude of 10.2, which is too dim to see with the unaided eye; must have strong binoculars at least) on December 11.
None of these articles mentions where this dim, "backwater" star is located in the sky. :-\ No reference to in which constellation nor near to. The articles also don't give a time the occultation will occur. This is unusual, in my experience.
I searched rather extensively with Google and also tried to track down a free online star chart service.
This is the most complete info I could find:

I last knew Mars to be in Taurus, but since summer it's been out of our view.
Okay, here goes:
Due to various solar system orbits and tilts, Mars doesn't really improve much in visibility through December, so the best way of finding this morning red world is to use Venus and the crescent Moon – see Venus notes for details. On Friday 3 and Saturday 4 December, Mars is very close to the leading star of Libra, the Scales – this is Zubenelgenubi
Well...Libra is well below the horizon and thus entirely out of view even at first stirrings of twilight. Unless the event occurs in the wee hours of the morning, when Libra is rising in the East; must be (especially for them to mention it at U.S. web sites).
But again, no *time* is mentioned at all, nor time zones and etc.

The first four digits denote region, the next five numbers denote a specific area within the region. The final number is a Tycho specific component number.
