ChatGPT cannot overcome fluid dynamics and physics. Belief in an observable and understandable universe restored.

#27 Re: Not So Free Chat » South of the Border Politics » 2022-10-07 00:31:37

Well, at least we can all appreciate the blatant racism and bigotry inherent in the posts from  tahanson43206. I mean, if a question to google is met with silence about the number of people in Mexico involved in crime is met with silence, we clearly can deduce that people from Mexico are criminals.

Mexico has problems. Your infantile broad stroke approach to simplifying the complexity of that problem by implying that the Mexican nation, in proportion, is more inclined to criminal behavior is disgusting.

A god damn moderator made that post. What the fk is wrong with all of you?

With the arrival of Caliban.

With the arrival, we accepted racism and fascism, should also be stated out loud.

KBD, so should we spend less and cut back on the military expenditures that we use the funds to subsidize?

#30 Re: Not So Free Chat » Advice to parents on school options » 2022-06-25 01:40:45

Meanwhile in Australia, where they suppressed gun rights after school shootings and murders, saw a drastic reduction in toddlers being shot.

I guess it must be cultural because there is no way we would see similar outcomes in the USA.

But hey, we have crossing guards for busy intersections, so why not a fully armed parent on a high stool and a trigger twitch to ensure kid safety. Go America!

#31 Re: Not So Free Chat » Putin's Russian expanding to be the old USSR » 2022-04-11 23:53:36

Chat about dead people. Chat about people being killed about other people. You are sad. What the heck is wrong with you? If you think  the assault and war is okay, own it. If you don't, what the f*ck are you doing?

#32 Re: Not So Free Chat » CDC director warns of a ‘pandemic of the unvaccinated.’ » 2022-03-25 00:20:13

I'll wager my 20 years in health care and lab systems against your dumb word vomit.

Anyone that thinks you know what you are talking about is mistaken. You are quite literally what is wrong with a world full of people with a command of literacy but a lack of education.

I live in CA. I welcome the flight out from this state, but unfortunately, population continues to increase. CA is what, 5th largest economy on its own? Agricultural breadbasket for America? Technological base for most of now? One of the few states with a space industry?

My states economy didn't happen by accident.   You can all make fun of the liberal bent out this way, but you should have a little respect.

read his posts and recognize that he approves of children being killed.

So a disease mutated, because people didn't get vaccinated or couldn't, so a disease was able to evolve, and it became more infective, and the vaccines were less effective. Science.

You are either science or not. You either conspiracy or not. Statistically, you are better off getting a vaccine than not. Statistically, if you get covid you are better off if you have a vaccine or not. It's just math. But hey, i get it, numbers are just numbers. It's scary.

Who do you trust? What do you believe? How can you accept?

I don't have an answer for you. I got vaxxed, 3 times. I got covid and lived, My kids got covid, after being vaxed. We survived. Maybe you can rambo it out without medicine, Good for you. Math says you are taking a bigger chance. That's all this is, math,

We talk about landing things on a moon or mars, and that is math. This is no different. So it is weird that the political bent is so on display.

#35 Re: Not So Free Chat » Putin's Russian expanding to be the old USSR » 2022-03-17 02:03:32

And yes, i am the idiot, chiming in, Calliban is an idiot. All of you, have some self respect. Your patience, your rationalization, your tolerance, are just an example of moral cowardice. Tack a stand. Or be the fuck*ng cowards that the path of least resistance presents.

#36 Re: Not So Free Chat » CDC director warns of a ‘pandemic of the unvaccinated.’ » 2022-03-17 01:44:52

Those without any vaccination, die at a higher rate.
Those with a vaccination, die at a lower rate.

That is what science says. Roll your dice, sad sacks.

but stars.

#37 Re: Not So Free Chat » Current Gasoline/Petrol Price$ » 2022-03-17 01:39:53

I don't care if our government hands out "gold stars" or other participation trophies for electronics, anti-lock brakes, seat belts, or crash testing, but it shouldn't have the power to make them mandatory to sell a car.  Government can suggest that we don't use Lead paint, wear seat belts, not smoke, not drink, not abuse drugs, etc.  When they start mandating contrivances, that's when the problem arises.  I want to remove all the warning labels, all the ridiculous artificial controls over every aspect of society intended to shield the overgrown children masquerading as adults from their poor decision making, and then let nature take over.

The real physical world always has been and always will be dangerous to all mortal beings who don't live inside a rubber room with a totally benevolent overseer.  Whether you never leave your rubber room or swing from a trapeze until you have a heart attack at age 100, the end result is that you die.  On one end of the spectrum, you're sheltered from every imaginable threat, while on the other end you have to learn from your mistakes and become resilient, or you're not long for this world.  In the not-so-distant past, those who wanted to survive had to have some base level of awareness that the world can be a dangerous place, and that they shouldn't do things that increased their chances of getting killed, or accept the consequences if they did.

No one is suggesting that you can't live and die inside a rubber room if that's what you truly want, merely that many of us aren't inclined to join you there.

Because a DUI law at the federal level hasn't resulted in fewer deaths. Because seat belt laws hasn't resulted in fewer fatalities. Because requirements on airbag safety hasn't resulted in fewer mortalities.

Rear cameras shouldn't be required, because fu*kit, you should see the little assh*le running in front of your car. That's on you.

Kbd, this isn't the fight you should make. I get it, we dont need an overreach of government, But there is a god damn place for it. If you think otherwise, then you are just one more reactionary who stopped thinking, which is sad.

#38 Re: Not So Free Chat » Putin's Russian expanding to be the old USSR » 2022-03-17 01:30:51

Kbd, my mixed race kids are learning that people like Calliban exist. WTF is wrong with all of you that quietly accepts this level of racism. You patiently listen to a cool history lesson on Mesopotamia and sumaria as some kind of awkward bullsh*t rationalize of modern day behavioral racism?

Calliban is quite literally a moron that you all allow to continue to vomit. Why? But hey, he has a hypothesis, mono-cultural races are supreme. Says the sad sack failing history when it covered Roman history, Chinese history or Mongol history. The most successful empires figured out multi-culturalism. Only a fu*king English wanker would miss that truth.

#39 Re: Not So Free Chat » Putin's Russian expanding to be the old USSR » 2022-03-15 01:24:29

I guess we learn about you all. How will your kids respond to how you reply? Calliban and Terraformer are clearly of a view. What is yours?
But hey, an alt-right white heil history for mars, why not. Keep at it.

#40 Re: Not So Free Chat » CDC director warns of a ‘pandemic of the unvaccinated.’ » 2022-03-15 01:17:04

Floating in the boat of mental midgets. Look, stars, how must the fiery lights in heaven work? How many of you watched the covid patient die on the respirator? How many of you watched the hospital ER get overwhelmed with covid and non-covid patients? Sad little people with sad little comments. You are making a difference. Prove your point. A lot of brilliant people are doing their best to try and make sure that as many of us, collectively, dont die. But hey, Mars. Your stupid pathetic world view is a demonstration that the good works of many are undone by the few.

We might as well invite the flat earth society to start posting here. Sad sacks.

#41 Re: Not So Free Chat » CDC director warns of a ‘pandemic of the unvaccinated.’ » 2022-03-13 22:42:38

clark,

If a salesman was trying to convince you to buy a car from him, should he kick off that conversation by telling you how stupid you are being for not buying a car from him?

Has that approach to salesmanship ever worked on you?

If only someone told you how stupid you are being for not buying a car from him, the correct number of times, or that he works with leading experts who know how stupid you are being for not buying a car from him, would that suddenly convince you to buy a car from him?

If so, then that's a very interesting approach to car sales that I have never considered.

It hasn't kbd512, mostly because I'm not a cars salesman. I get your point though. I can't call a moron a moron and expect him to stop being a moron. So I guess I have to educate the morons in a way that is non-threatening. I have to use small words, and validate their fears. It's not them and their ignorant upbringing or their failed logic. Terraformer and Calliban need an excuse, right?

Science says those like Terraformer and Calliban are wrong. History will prove them wrong if you reject the science. What then? But hey, forget the science and just chill with the social aspect of quasi white nationalists. That's your martian future here. You allow it, you tolerate it. Explain that to your kids kbd.

But the stars.

"Well then, you'll understand these stats won't you?:

https://alexberenson.substack.com/p/urg … mments?s=r

90% of Covid deaths in the UK are from people who have received the vaccine. This is just Covid, not looking at all-mortality stats.

I'm afraid your flawed "argument from authority" (as philosophers define it) does not cancel out those sorts of statistics."

Little man. I have millions and billions or real world results that all say the same thing, vaccines work. Your "stats" are hundreds. Mine are millions. Why are you on a board about mars colonization where you decide to peddle pseudo science around vaccination? WTF is wrong with the rest of you reading this?

#43 Re: Not So Free Chat » Current Gasoline/Petrol Price$ » 2022-03-11 01:34:53

"Governments demanded the use of electronics and anti-lock brakes and crash testing, not consumers.  That was not capitalism in action, it was government regulators in action. "

unfettered capitalism, stymied by government intervention.  the horror.

Like when government said maybe lead paint in schools was bad? Like when government said maybe smoking in enclosed spaces was bad? Like when government said you should wear a seat belt? Like when the government said kids should get a certain set of vaccinations? Like when the government said your particular idea should be protected as a patent for x number of years?

We don't have capitalism in America. We have a regulated marketplace. Some of it good, some of it bad. The government plays a role in regulating it. The government plays a role in dictating the rules, or minimum value to entry. Consumers play a role in what they are willing to put up with or accept.

Jesus, American's supposedly live in a capitalist society but our internet, media or electricity is all a monopoly. Most of us are too stupid too see the irony.

#44 Re: Not So Free Chat » CDC director warns of a ‘pandemic of the unvaccinated.’ » 2022-03-11 01:11:29

I literally work in healthcare with the people involved in the science and research involved in all the bullsh*t posts you posit. There is no conspiracy. I am at ground fuc!ing zero. You want to talk about how IRB studies are put together? You want to talk about clinical trials? I work in one of the top ten academic medical centers in the US. I'm not a grunt. I've been doing this for over 2 decades.

I don't like being told how i have to receive medical care, but i understand population health management. I understand statistics and probability. I have a ring side view on how clinical trial are conducted- not a media spoon fed story or arm chair Wikipedia approach some of you take. I've gotten to see, directly, the outcomes when a hospital is overloaded. I've been in the decisions around how we alter triage care because the system is overloaded.

But hey, I'm just the same rando as another rando on the internet. Terraformer clearly has a handle on how we should handle clinical trials of a mRna solution that has been studied for over 10 years, clinically, better than any one else, because he strings some words together after saying he studied "science".

If you all want a witch doctor, so be it. Shake a god damn chicken bone at it. Eventually you will want real medicine, and eventually you will want to listen to a doctor. Stop posting on the internet and ask some doctors what they think you should do. Stop looking for randos on the internet to reinforce your own fears.

#45 Re: Human missions » ISS - Beware the Bear » 2022-03-09 02:38:19

I have to believe that the people, on both sides, who spend their whole lives dedicated to making "people in space" happen, will sort this out. Political appointee's and twitter whores are just speed bumps. And if that is not the case, and ISS burns in a fiery farewell, for political points, we have only ourselves to blame. It wasn't important enough to keep aloft and we didn't make the case well enough. You may want to argue the point, but the outcome is still the same.

#46 Re: Martian Chronicles » Let's build a hard sci-fi space opera setting! » 2022-03-09 02:20:02

Expanse is fun but fails once they add the "aliens" and worm gates. It fails like the rest of sci-fi when it engages in fantasy. Again, I don't agree necessarily, but the reality is that when you introduce non-reality elements to a story, it requires the reader to suspend disbelief. Literature in the classic sense is about engaging the human condition and experience. When the author introduces elements outside of either, it becomes something else, and something that isn't literature as currently defined.

Is it possible to write a sci fi based story that respects the human condition and human experience without succumbing to fantasy? I think so, but I haven't found it yet. When it is realized it will be the equivalent of Harry Potter in terms of financial success. Harry Potter isn't literature, but it does a pretty good job of breaking down the human condition within the framework of a defined and logical universe.

#47 Re: Martian Chronicles » Is Alpha Centauri the new "Mars"? » 2022-03-09 02:10:12

You are not wrong. But. I'm mid stream in life. How i grew up is radically different than how my kids are growing up. The world is the same but changes at a cadence that I didn't see when i was a kid. Dreaming of mars as a teenager was radical, now it is a forgone conclusion.

There is a speed occurring. Our biggest dreams today may be the smallest imagination tomorrow.

#48 Re: Not So Free Chat » CDC director warns of a ‘pandemic of the unvaccinated.’ » 2022-03-09 02:04:52

kbd512,

You are right. Science is not a shield to avoid or ignore counter-factual results. I listened to someone that clearly had a political bent, as demonstrated in prior posts, that colors the value of the personal experience outlined.

Millions of people are taking the vaccine without issue, and with positive patient outcomes. That's science, not a conspiracy of drug manufactures. I'm all for personal freedom and find the need for government oversight odious, but like an adult, i accept pragmatically that i and my family are all better off in accepting this. We live in an age of miracles. We are offered a miracle. I am sad that those in here devoted to a dream that requires a series of miracles reject one in hand.

#49 Re: Not So Free Chat » Putin's Russian expanding to be the old USSR » 2022-03-03 12:22:59

Ha. Perhaps it is an American naivete that posits free people are right and good to challenge outward naked aggression that would diminish their liberty.

Keep your monarchy. History tells me your English views are wrong.

Post edited to remove the personal insult at the end.  Calling people names is not an argument, clark.  You don't win arguments by personal attacks against others, whether your belief about what they represent is true or not. - kbd512 (Brian)
