There is talk of extending Government term's from 3 years to 4 years. Sounds like a power grab by Mr Johnny Howard (PM) who currently owns both houses of Parliament and can do pretty much whatever he wants.

I flipped a coin and voted Liberal. Seemed like the fairest way to choose seeing as both Labour and the Coalition have identical policies. I suppose I could have voted for a third option but it's a two party system.

The preferential voting system with it's 'How To Vote Card's' and back room  preference swapping deals makes voting for anyone else pointless.  Most of the public only votes to avoid a $40 penalty anyway.  So it's either the Coalition or Labour.

You do need to have the terms long enough so office holders can accomplish something for their constituents without running for reelection all the time.
