Dec '05 was our busiest month since the rovers, with over 36k daily average (one day, Dec 17th, we had 98k hits, I wish I had stats from the rover days). I think it might have been due to people having free time on their hands, plus the Sucide Thread making it onto a popular site. It's too early to tell but our daily average so far for Jan is fluctuating between 17-19k hits a day. 15k hits was our fall average, so nice to see.

Having a little pseudo-hiatus here, just letting you guys know. I'll be checking in, but not posting, so if you see my little admin thing and wonder why I haven't said anything, you'll know why. Not that I've really been posting much anyway.

Nah, I'm golden when it comes to annoying Josh. He knows my real name, thus I am not anonymous, thus I cannot be prosecuted under that particualr law.
Of course I should probably be locked up anyway, but for entirely different reasons.

whoa.
But... When I type in mars wiki or mars+wiki in my searchbox (Firefox, so Google powered) it doesn't list the wiki at the top at all... :?

To get to the top of a Google search what we need to do is have many places link to our site. So if we want to raise the status of the wiki everyone could put the new mars wiki in there signature whenever they go to a different discussion forum.

We're already ranked really high on google, first hit for "mars forum" and fourth hit for "mars wiki." I think it's really great, and one of these days I'm going to do something about it (like, eh, change the templates on the wiki, and maybe add a different template to the forums). It does explain why we have so many hits, though (the primary search referral is generally "mars forum." Brings lots of hits).
But you can add us if you want, I don't think I can link back to you, however (I don't own this site, and since it's a Mars Society site, I would have to get permission, etc), but it would be fine if you made your own post talking about your products. Tell us why you made the company, etc.

Jan. was the busiest month since Augest of last year, it seems the winter/fall 'lull' (if you can consider 18k hits a day a lull) is over. With over 22k hits a day average, we really are doing nicely.

I wonder how many hits came from our friendly guest...
Josh, there's now guest not spam but garbage-posts in New Mars Articles too... How's that possible?
Offline
New Mars Articles has been opened, too, just no one has been exploi-erm, using it. I'll think about closing it.
BTW, to do mass deletions, you can click on the "moderate this forum" button at the bottom right, just a tip.

We're 14k hits shy of getting a million hits for March. We've grown at about 100k hits a month since January... amazing. Is it the wiki? I dunno. But it's awesome.

Only this morning, I was half thinking about starting a topic about how we got less visitors; I guess I am sorely mistakken, heehee!
I really thought the board was slowly wilting... But then again, I don't spend as much time on it as I used to, too many other things (building simple robots-finally- amongst others, but always thinking about that rusty ball, how they'd fare there...)

Same here, I have been super duper busy working on stuff. I would've loved to be here for the SpaceX thing, the solar eclipse, etc. There is a lot of great stuff happening in the space sector.
Granted about 10% of the hits are google, but still, there is definitely growth.

Our host is really crappy. That happens when the forum cannot connect to the MSQL database. I'll do a cleanup and see if that helps.

I know phpBB isn't all rainbows, but what do you think - is it the best of the bunch out there - or is the grass greener with some other BB software?
