Re: SE Asia Earthquake

Misery increases, death toll rising

*Terrible.  And now heavy rains and hail are thwarting relief/rescue efforts (helicopter missions canceled/delayed).

Two women, ages 55 and 75 (daughter/mother), were pulled from the rubble 80 hours after the 'quake; a teenaged boy after 78 hours of being trapped.

Possible (likely) outbreaks of measles, cholera and diarrhea.

Death toll expected to be 35,000 to 40,000 people.

Re: SE Asia Earthquake

Have not followed this as closely as the Huricanes in the states but I find it distressing to see the bodies laying in the streets covered but yet people still walking by long after they have been covered..

The news this morning showed aid workers and soldiers providing food and water into the areas hit by the quake.

Another items:

Pakistan also said it would accept aid from its longtime rival India, which promised tents, food and medicine. However, Islamabad declined an offer of helicopters and has ruled out a joint rescue operation along the disputed frontier. The nations fought two wars over Kashmir, which both claim in its entirety.

Sounds more like the both of them should agree to creation of a neutral state.
