Re: Launching an Out-of-This-World...

*Birthday bash  smile

I found some nice space-related birthday party ideas in an "old" cooking magazine:  Taste of Home's Quick Cooking Collector's Edition, was printed in 2000.

This is mostly geared for children and early teens...and maybe some young-at-heart adults too.

Recipes include:

*Flying Saucers (stuffed pita pocket sandwiches; cold cuts, lettuce, tomato slices, mayo or mustard)

*Little Dippers (a dip made from vanilla yogurt, orange marmalade and a bit of powdered sugar, to dip starfruit and other fruits cut into the shapes of stars into)

*Saturn Slush (ha ha -- "Swirled in tall glasses, the alternating blueberry and strawberry layers in this refreshing blended beverage will remind you of Saturn's rings..."  Cute.  Actually the proposed garnish for the Saturn Slush reminds me more of Saturn:  A drinking straw run through a big strawberry, with a slice of fresh orange wrapped around and thereby "ringing" the strawberry).

*Moonbeam Munchies (homemade sugar cookies cut into crescent shapes and sprinkled with yellow colored sugar).

*Rocket Cake (an ice cream roll smothered with vanilla frosting.  Set it upright and decorate it with a red cone on top and blue "fins" on the bottom sides made from construction paper).
