Re: Neutron star material

Yes, A white dwarf is still a star but I can think of no diamond on Earth that weighs 5 tons per tablespoon? Why would a diamond weigh more in space than on Earth?

Re: Neutron star material

If you squeeze atoms hard enough, their electron shells will actually deform and squish too. Since the atom is mostly empty space, if you can make them squish alot, then you can pack alot of atoms into a very small volume.

Re: Neutron star material

How about to the point of squishing one inside of another?

Re: Neutron star material

Nope, there is no way to selectively squeeze the atoms so that one is compressed and the other isn't. You can't really penitrate the electron shell either by squishing another atom against it, its a probability density.

Re: Neutron star material

Exoplanet imaged?! Granted there were only three posts in it but the initial speculation is there.

Plus this thread Major Extrasolar Planet Discovery, ...to be announced August 31!

There was also another thread for neutron star material as well Scientists Glimpse Exotic Matter In A Neutron Star, Fusion or Fision

So there are usually multiple threads going on any topics.
