After listening to the VP debates I think that Dick beat Edwards hard. In my book the score was like 10:1 in their points, and debating skills. Dick total came out fighting and did not let the sliver tongue Edwards push him around. Dick was alswise on afence and made edwards have to defind him and kerry. G.W Bush should take notes on how to win a debate from Dick. Bush needs to come out fighting in the next debate, otherwise he will look unpresidental. As we all know it is not your ideas, skills, or heart that win election. Its your image that counts to most people because they are mild MR, most people when it come to anything beyond pop culture.
Ask them about sex and the city they could give a five hour report about it, ask them to logical explian why they are voting for this idea, they are dump as rocks. I love to harsh people by asking why Kerry is such a great guy, then tearing down they ideas, faith in their small little minds. Wacthing them give up in walk away in shame is a great feeling, more so if they are crying. Needless to say that I was not inveted back to my college democrate club meeting. Lossers!
I think that dick is a master at debating don't you?
Kerry is good to so bush has to be prepared for the next debates.

I know from experience that trying to talk to a Bush supporter is generally like talking to a fortune cookie, but what the hey. First off, grammer, yes, that's quite important when you're communicating (or making some vague, extraterrestrial-like attempt to) with people through writing. You know, you can say people's last names every once in a while; were you refering to Dick Rutan or Dick Van Dyke? I couldn't tell, but I'm sure it was one of the two.
Really, so it's easy to rip up the ideas of all pro-Kerrys? Go ahead, try it right now, I and I'm sure many others on the board are all eyes, unless the above was just diharrea of the keyboard and you don't actually have any Bush support material besides the often-used fallacies.
No, I'm afraid that Dick Rutan is not a master of debating. In addition, I'm afraid that Dick Cheney (oh, is that the dick you were refering to?) would probably be about as good at flying Voyager as he is at debating. Obviously that's a huge overstatement, but the point remains that Cheney did cause Edwards a good deal of damage but took his fair share as well. He may have beaten him up over Edwards' lousy attendence record (proof please?), but was caught with his pants all the way down when Edwards mentioned Cheney's voting record in the House. You voted against MLK Day, Dick? Shame on you!
Was I the only one who could easily picture Cheney saying at the end of his "I've never seen you before" speech "You've been a bad boy now, Johnny. It's time you got a spankin'!" I probably am, but Cheney really acted like a dissapointed father the whole time with his attitude IMHO.
So, Earthfirst, am I as dump as rocks?

The "I have never seen you before" speech could come back to haunt Cheney since the Kerry campaign found a picture of Cheney and Edwards standing next to each other from 2001.

He beat Edwards up over far more than that, he trounced him on Iraq for example. Proving Edward's attendance record is easy, it's a matter of public record.
As for Cheney's voting record, much of what he voted against helps him with Republican-leaning voters. For example, despite its being treated as sacred the Department of Education was a bad idea. MLK day? So what? I would have voted against it too, that doesn't imply any stance whatsoever on what the man is being honored for. Federal holidays have economic consequences for the operation of government, it's not just some feel-good prize to be handed out whenever we want to remember something. Unfortunately, some people try to insinuate things that just aren't there.
The "I have never seen you before" speech could come back to haunt Cheney since the Kerry campaign found a picture of Cheney and Edwards standing next to each other from 2001.
If they run with that it kinda cements Edwards' poor showing, don't you think? The best they can come up with to hit Cheney with is that they met before? And not in a Senate session, btw...
Perhaps Edwards just didn't make much of an impression. Consistent with his debate performance, all phony smiles and affable manner but no substance, just talking points.

*I agree. I respect Dr. King, what he stood for, the obstacles (incomprehensible to me) he had to try and surmount, etc.
But you're right about the impact of Federal holidays. I wish we would eliminate President's Day for one (and maybe Columbus Day as well).
Some folks have recommended Caesar Chavez Day as a Federally recognized holiday. Mr. Chavez should be honored/recognized for his work and humanitarian concerns, etc...but at what point, then, will the Federal gov't be pressured into having a Federal holiday for 1 distinguished person of each ethnicity, race...and what next, Susan B. Anthony Day? Would have to include a Federal holiday for at least 1 distinguished woman. At this rate we'd have a Federal holiday every month of the year!
I think they should be kept to a minimum; on a personal level, the 3-day no banks open/post office closed weekends really messes up handling of personal finances, business-related matters, etc. Mail gets backed up, long lines at banks on Tuesday because it was closed on Monday, etc., etc.
Yipes. Enough is enough.

http://apnews.myway.com/article/2004100 … .html]Bush Defends Iraq Invasion Despite Report
WASHINGTON (AP) - Faced with a harshly critical new report, President Bush conceded Thursday that Iraq did not have the stockpiles of banned weapons he had warned of before the invasion last year, but insisted that "we were right to take action" against Saddam Hussein.
"America is safer today with Saddam Hussein in prison," Bush said in a surprise statement to reporters as he prepared to fly to Wisconsin.
"Much of the accumulated body of our intelligence was wrong and we must find out why," Bush said.
But, he maintained that the Iraqi leader retained the "means and the intent" to produce weapons of mass destruction.
That's right folks, the president of the united states has admitted that he took the country to war with another nation, against the wishes of the international community, based on falsehoods. He lied to the American public for the justification of action in Iraq. WMD's. Imminent threat. There was neither.
Regardless of the outcome, can we truly suffer a leader who so willingly disregards the truth in such matters as war? We must put our trust and faith in the President to make decisions upon information we may not know, which was why many gave the president the benefit of the doubt. It has been conclusively proven now that we were misled.
The intelligence report also details that the sanctions were effective in diminishing Iraq's capabilities, and that Saddam possesed less of a capability than prior to 1990. The sanctions were working.
How can anyone honestly trust Bush now?

Who cares about the UN, I dont. Why do we need the aproval of other nations to defend our self? If it was up to the UN to defend Isrial they would have been all killed by now.
I am glad that we have a cowboy president, if we had a UN fraNCE BUTT KISSOR LIKE John Kerry. America would have been attaCKED BY THE WMDS that Bush destoryed but didnt take credit for.
WMDS include guns, pencels, broken bottles, gun powder, bad hair. All of which in the hands of any army would cause mass destruction, so there are WMDs in Iraq
Arizona state is ten times better than those dank clouddy schools that hardly go to a party every day. At asu we are expected to drink ten beers a day, attend five partys, appear in porngraphic girls gone wild, wet tee shrit contest, go on pantie rads at the freshman girls droom, yes they stand at the top of the 20 story droom and throw their undies down at the boys to whip them into a fury. Thats just Monday morning, the rest week is alike. Maybe an hour class, by the way we dont have take test. Much better than no parting and studing at a cloudy rainy eastern school.

You didn't read the report, did you Clark? <wags finger disapprovingly> trusting the media to cover these things. Shame.
I'll be harsher when I finish reading it myself.
But let's run with the "no WMD in Iraq" position, even though that isn't exactly what it said. We'll assume for the sake of argument that it was all wrong, "falsehoods" to use your wording, and that those annoying instances of Sarin shells and other such goodies didn't really turn up.
He lied to the American public for the justification of action in Iraq. WMD's. Imminent threat. There was neither.
Whoa! Hold on there, leap of logic. The intelligence was wrong, so Bush lied? I suppose then that Bill Clinton lied as well.
Okay, bad example.
But did the UN lie for years, The British, French, Germans etc? Did John Kerry lie when he said "With respect to Saddam Hussein and the threat he presents, we must ask ourselves a simple question: Why? Why is Saddam Hussein pursuing weapons that most nations have agreed to limit or give up? Why is Saddam Hussein guilty of breaking his own cease-fire agreement with the international community? Why is Saddam Hussein attempting to develop nuclear weapons when most nations don't even try, and responsible nations that have them attempt to limit their potential for disaster? Why did Saddam Hussein threaten and provoke? Why does he develop missiles that exceed allowable limits? Why did Saddam Hussein lie and deceive the inspection teams previously? Why did Saddam Hussein not account for all of the weapons of mass destruction which UNSCOM identified? Why is he seeking to develop unmanned airborne vehicles for delivery of biological agents? " In Oct. of 2002 on the Senate floor?
Everyone knew Saddam had these weapons. He'd used them. He may have gotten rid of them or they may have been destroyed, but they were never accounted for. To say that Bush lied about it is absolutely absurd. Mistaken perhaps, but certainly not deliberately and outright lying.
The intelligence report also details that the sanctions were effective in diminishing Iraq's capabilities, and that Saddam possesed less of a capability than prior to 1990. The sanctions were working.
The sanctions hurt the Iraqi people more than Saddam and his military machine. What reduced Iraq's offensive capabilities was the 1991 pummeling they received at the hands of a coalition with about the same number of participants as this time around.

Okay, you're right. George W. Bush is a brillaint warmongering mastermind that duped the American people, including John Kerry, into supporting a war for purely evil purposes, all while managing to convince his opposition that he's a blundering idiot.

Oh, goodness, Earthfirst, you are too funny! No offense, but you do go out of your way to make such awful prose, right? Syntax, grammer, spelling, even basic conventions like apostrophes seem to be absent, that can't be natural. But it is VERY funny, keep it up.
It reminds me of a piece of graffitti I saw last summer while I was crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. Someone for whom English was probably their second language had enscribed onto the main cable the statement "Tis Brigde no Beatifil." Very funny, it wasn't you now, was it Earthfirst?
Okay, I used the anti-MLK day voting as an example, but the point was that neither Cheney nor Edwards came out of the debate ahead. Cheney was less hurt than Edwards, but they were both more covered in mud than anything else by the end.
