It just occurred to me that gene doping should in a large part take care of loss of musculature due to low gravity. I saw a picture of a baby that had unusually large musculature due to a genetic defect. This will be something we should see within the next 50 years in sports and in space. I never realized how close we are to solving the muscle loss problem. As far as bone loss maybe the solution is similar. I wonder what genes increase and reduce mussel atrophy.

BTW has electric mussel stimulation been tried as a way to reduce mussel loss in space. Clearly this won’t work for astronauts with a pace maker. But how many astronauts use a pace maker.
