*A local television news station just carried a special feature about a little Chihuahua dog named "Nubbie." He was born without front legs. He's learned to walk upright on his rear legs, walking maybe 1-1/2 feet before resting. Nubbie can also go up stairs (he "demonstrated" this for the camera): He pauses while standing upright, tenses his little body and then hops up onto the stair.
The family who owns him is rather large and they have other dogs; if Nubbie needs help, someone (or somedog) assists.
Nubbie is a budding star: He'll be featured on the local Humane Society's 2005 calendar.
I love stories like this. Interesting how "life finds a way..." and how disabilities can be overcome.

P.S.: The family is hoping to get a special "wheelchair" for Nubbie. Unfortunately those are currently only made to replace missing hind legs. Hopefully they'll get a custom made wheelie for Nubbie.
We all know those Venusians: Doing their hair in shock waves, smoking electrical coronas, wearing Van Allen belts and resting their tiny elbows on a Geiger counter...
