*Just now saw this item at spacedaily.com.  Mr. Nikolayev was the 3rd Soviet in space.  He died yesterday at the age of 74.  His wife is Valentina Tereshkova -- the first woman in space (Vostok 6).  Mr. Nikolayev flew on Vostok 3 in 1962 and on Soyuz 9 in 1970 -- "in an experiment in prolonged weightlessness, setting a nearly 18-day endurance record for life in space."  Article discusses "Nikolayev effect."

Other biographical bits as well.

P.S.:  A link to his widow's memoirs -- Ms. Tereshkova ("The First Lady of Space"):

The Nikolayev effect: I think Soyuz 9 was the crew that suffered most from weightlessness ever. Nikolayev broke two duration records. Interesting cosmonaut.

*Yes.  I saw another (short) article about him, including a very nice black-and-white photo from his Vostok days.  I can't find it again, unfortunately.

I wonder if their children are interested in space exploration and etc., are actively involved?  Can't find any English-language articles and I'm unfortunately monolingual.

You are right he married Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space, and they had a daughter, Yelana but later on the two divorced in 1982.

Nikolayev wrote a book called Meeting in Orbit he wrote many more as far as I know
