I heard that Moore knew about this a year ago and is whining now for publicity.

Do you think he could easily get someone to release it? I am sure there would be a lot of people who would like to see it.

Disnee owns it, at least that was my impression. I don't think he can.

No. Corporations can't censor, only governments can.
A business decison not to distribute a film is just that, business.

I government can use legal measures or finical means. I believe Disney is worried about losing some money as a result of Michales Mores Movie pissing off the bush administration. I forget exactly how.

A government exerting its finical influence to control media content is just that business?

Disney World gets some sizable tax breaks from the florida government. Seing as Jeb Bush is the current governor of florida...

Its being shown at the cannes film festival - hopefully enough people will see it provide enough pressure for it to be released.

If Disney thinks the profits will be worth the negative (public) reaction they'll release it. If they believe they'll lose more than they gain, they won't.
At that point, depending on who owns the rights, Moore can either shop it to another distributor or try to find someone willing to buyout Disney's stake in it and release it elsewhere. The government isn't trying to stop it from being scene, therefore no censorship.
Actually, I suspect the Bush Administration wants Michael Moore running around shooting his mouth off. He hurts his cause more than he helps it with most people.

*Yeah, I'd agree. I saw, in a different forum (that post apparently long since buried because I can't find it again), a guy using a quote about Michael Moore in his sig. The quote said something about "liking to see Charleton Heston knife-raping Michael Moore" and "setting up a microphone and speakers all over the world" so that "everyone could hear the whine-hole screaming." :-\ Nasty.
Not my attitude towards him (basically I don't know much of his work and etc. well enough to have an opinion of him myself); just relating what I've seen. And it's ugly.

Michael Moore is Newtonian: for every action he undertakes, he creates an equal and opposite reaction in the opposition. The GOP knows that, and the Florida GOP itself is sufficiently Machiavellian to realize that and thus wouldn't be pressuring Disney. The more likely reason is that Disney quite rightly has no desire for any of the mud Moore tends to sling to stain their corporate image.
Moore undoubtedly will find another distributor. Equally undoubtedly, he'll have no net effect on US politics, except maybe to polarize it some.

I didn’t see it but didn’t a lot of people really like his movie bowling for Columbine. He must have a little insight amongst all the negative things some people say about him. Or am I surrounded by people who think everyone should have an assault rifle.

Well, anyway his new movie got rave reviews. So what if people don’t agree with everyone of his points, he must have at least some good points, or some writing or directing talent. There must be something there that makes his books worth reading. The communist manifesto is probably worth reading and it is very unlikely that I will agree with much of that at all. P.S. If I want anyone to shut up its probably David Suzuki.

http://sympatico.msn.cbc.ca/story/arts/ … html]Moore film boosts Kerry?
Last Updated Fri, 02 Jul 2004 00:11:43 EDT
WASHINGTON - There are signs that the controversial Michael Moore documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 may be helping the presidential campaign of Democrat John Kerry. On June 23, the day the film opened in New York, Kerry managed to raise more than $2 million US through his online fundraising operation.

*...and it's -NOT- an overwhelming "oui!"
Well, at least Moore admits the film is his version of the facts.
I feel at least some of the French media are being objective about Moore -- including being willing to *criticize* both he and the movie.

Who, saw the movie? I did. It sure made bush look stupid. Obviously you have to watch a movie like this with a skeptical eye. One obvious truth is haliburton gets a lot of contracts. Are these contracts first put out to tenure? Isn’t it an unethical practice for government to award contracts to there friends first without first putting the contracts out to tenure? Impeach the man.
BTW I wonder how thoroughly congress read the patriot act. In "fahrenheit 9/11" it said a not a single congress man read the patriot act. This can’t be true, cat it?

I just saw Bowling for Columbine. I borrowed it from a friend, and I must say, Moore is an idiot. He is shameless. I question the manner in which he chooses to tell his story, and how he goes about doing it. I can give him credit for the points he claims he is trying to make, but the way he does it, well, "intellectuall fluff" comes to mind. I've been holding off from seeing this movie because I kind of guessed it would be something like this. For the same reasons, i refuse to see 9/11, as it only serves to perpetuate more films by this man, or those like him.
He plays the same games he accuses others of, and he dosen't do it very well.
As for the Patriot Act, most Congressmen don't actually read any of the legislation they vote on- they primarily read the stuff related to whichever committe they are on, or are personaly sponsoring. They have staff that digest the legislation (such as the Patriot Act) and give them briefs (usually synopsis, and how their contituants feel related to the subject matter).

Moore is the Democrat answer to Rush Limbaugh. Two idiots don't make. . .

I won't see Fahrenheit 9/11 - - it will make me too angry, both at Moore for being an @ssh*le and Bush for being an idiot.

Moore is self impotant liberal, he has some good questions but the way he goes about answering them is one sided. He is also not afriad to be a jerk, set up people and get their reactions. Like in his move 911 he interviews a woman those son goes to war, she so proud of him. Then he gets killed, so he is their to flim it, he try to make the poor woman blame bush for her son death but she wont. He flims all the people ctying, of crouse they will be sad their son died! In my view to use a death to get some cheap shots off on bush is mean and uncaring. Exploting human suffering for your own gain is one of the lowest forms of human expression. The movie shows how much the liberals hate bush, that fine with me just dont use people sadness to get your point across.
Second he only brought up the faults of bush, he for got that almost every democrat was beating the war drum too. As for the war he made it look bad, but in truth it went fast and few live were lost when compared with other wars. The occupation went well too, when look back on history off invaders of crouse the people are going to raise some hell for a while. Problem being we have a 24 hour news channels that report every single death, bombing, and crazy people burning flags, we did not have that in past wars so it makes the occupation seem worse than it is. Also if we just kill these religous and little war lords that keep making trouble thing wouls queit down. I mean we got tone of troops their just blow up the mosquic their hiding in, problem solved.
On the whole liberals will love the movie and will pat them selfs on the back, other people will sea that it is one sided and showed be seen like a poltical add, properganda. that should not be taken as the whole truth, but with supecien
I love plants!

Who think it is true that bush just set there reading to the class for 8 minutes on 9/11 after he found America was attacked?
Who thinks it was true up until 9/11 bush was on vacation most of the time?
Who thinks it is true that a large segment of the black population was denied the vote in Florida?
Was there a recount in Florida? I thought there was but Mores movie seemed to imply there wasn’t. Was it true that all other networks were predicting gore the winner in Florida until fox announced otherwise?
