Re: research paper

doing an english paper (techinically should be almost done by now...)
its gotta be persuasive.
topic is the mission to mars.

basically i gotta write a persuasive paper persuading the reader in one of 3 possible directions.
all for the mars program
against the mars program
delay the mars program

i have very little idea how i am gonna get started on this...

tough part...
sources are as follows

required: 3 books minimum
no more than 1 internet source, 1 enclyclopedia
magazines optional
minimum 4 sources total

umm basically asking if you can help me find the most useful internet source. any books you can recommend to me, and any help you can give me in writing this out!
if i want the extra credit bonus (which i do) its gotta be done by april 2nd...if not i can wait till the 21st.

thanks in advance

Re: research paper

you might check out this little article: [http://www.spacedaily.com/news/mars-base-04f.html]http://www.spacedaily.com/news/mars-base-04f.html about both USA and Europe's plans for the Moon and Mars... A link about the (european) Aurora program is at the bottom.

About books... You might be better off staying on the 'net, since these subject change so fast, almost anything in print is bound to be out of date...

I know, you have to use books for your assignment, so beside the (obligatory' case for mars by Zubrin, you could make it more interesting to readd and *old* book to get an idea of plans that got nowhere...

I'm thinking about things like, say,  'Space in the 21st Century' by Richard S. Lewis, 1990, Colombia University Press, ISBN 0-231-06304-0.
1990 might sound like quite recent, but the plans and timelines in the book are already totally outdated...
Another interesting book, though not *that* much on Mars itself (one or two chapters) is The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Space Technology by Kenneth Gatland (dunno ISBN, i've only got the Dutch version here) Try to find both an old (I think it goes back to the 70's) and a newer revision, to get an idea about how plans tend to change...

Mags: Air & Space, Astronomy & Space, and Spaceflight, while not solelyy dedicated to manned flight or Mars missions, regularly have specials or interesting articles, check your library to find out if there's something interesting publised recently...
