Reminds me of proliferating yeast. See the following site for visible example:

Of course there is a big gap regarding dimensions (a yeast cell is only a few microns long).

And I would find it very unlikely if these marbles were single celled organisms.

I could rather imagine some kind of a higher developed spherical bacterial colony...or the fruit body of some kind of "mushroom" living inside rocks or inside soil..or...whatever...

I think its a little too early to start jumping up and down and shouting "Its Alive"

but these martian pictures are wondeful indeed and need further investigations
