How about the thread in Free Chat about the Space Commission? It is updated frequently on the current ongoings of the Space Commission with links to their reports, meeting results, and other assorted info or factoids.

Some non-Martian fare (variety is the spice of life, or so I am told)

Wherever you're from, you're welcome here, come say hi to a foreigner, or perhaps a neighbor, all depending on where you hail from in this thread:

International introductions and greetings take place among various individuals from around the globe, united by that strange red planet we call Mars. Well, some of us do. Maybe you can find out some other names for our distant ruby red destination from someone far abroad, now within earshot.  big_smile

I guess SOMEONE here will be using the blue-faced snoring guy for when I'm posting about Voltaire or 18th century stuff.

The problem is, I can't find the slash mouth guy any more - he must have disappeared when I did an upgrade - and worse, I can't even remember what he looks like!  :realllymad:  If anyone spots him, let me know so I can add him to the list again.

Re: Ares Express Issue 5 - For Sunday, February 15th

Once upon a time I woke up in jail and was quite sad  :bars:. It was no ordinary jail, it was an alien prison on the planet Nimbar. The aliens of Nimbar, who call themselves Nimby's, were round sphere-like creatures with no arms or legs, just three sets of eyes  yikes . The Nimby told me that I couldn't leave the prison, that I was an illegal alien. This made me angry  :bars2:. Nimby are psychic, so they could feel my anger, which they didn't like too much. They told me a joke, which made me laugh .

Re: Ares Express Issue 5 - For Sunday, February 15th

The Nimby liked the laughter, so they told me I could leave the prison soon, which made me even happier  :bars3:. All of this excitement made me tired, so I decided to take a nap . I dreamed of being in a rock band, where I played all the different instruments  :band:. People were screaming that I rocked! I felt so cool  cool.

:. But then I realized I didn't know how to play any musical instruments, and that I couldn't sing very well, so I was confused  :hm:. Was this a dream  ??? ? I decided to pinch myself, and promptly woke up, realizing that it was a dream. I can get so caught up in the moment  roll. After rubbing my eyes, I realized I was no longer in prison. I was very happy now  big_smile.

Re: Ares Express Issue 5 - For Sunday, February 15th

All the Nimby felt my happiness and flashed me a big thumbs up on little electronic displays they wore . I then realized that I needed to get home, becuase Nimbar was just to weird. I didn't know what to do, which made me sad  sad . The Nimby didn't like that one bit, so they flashed some thumb downs to register their complaint .

:.  I didn't like that, so I started getting really upset  :realllymad:. I stuck out my tongue at them  tongue. Well, that got the Nimby going, so they picked me up, which made me angry , but I couldn't fight them all off. The Nimby put me on a rocket ship, and sent me home. Just like I wanted  :;):. Now I'm all smiles  smile .

Re: Ares Express Issue 5 - For Sunday, February 15th

I think you can get additional smileys from here:

[http://www.smileycentral.com/]SmileyCentral.com

Not sure if this works for ikonboard, or what the deal is with how you set everything up, but they seem to offer a bunch of smileys.

Well, anyway, sorry about the little smiley story. Just havingsome fun with the new options.  big_smile

*A likely story.  sad

Just kidding.  <grin>

The slash-mouth guy is just like the original emoticons (i.e., the frown above) -- round and yellow.  He has the same "eyes" as the frown and smile emoticons.

=\

Like that, except "face" upright.

(Edit:  I think he -might- also have had a forehead "indication," i.e. a little straight line indicating a furrowed brow...but I'm not 100% sure on that particular).

Ah well...if he's gone, he's gone.
