Re: Your Own Personal Rover - (...we can daydream a little, can't we?)

*NASA and JPL have given you your own personal rover, similar to Spirit and Opportunity, except your rover will last up to 6 months (for sure!) and has a traveling range of 100 km...it can roll day or night 'round the Marsian clock (awright, don't bug me about how, 'cuz this is just a daydream, lighten up will ya?).  You have full decision-making authority over where you want your rover to land, in which direction you want to take it after landing, etc.  It's all in your hands.

Where on Mars would you land your rover, and why?

P.S.:  I'm still thinking about where I'd send mine...decisions, decisions!  :-I

In a word, Mariner!

It's by far the most spectacular location on the entire planet...I just can't imagine the stupendous views you would get from roaming around down in the floor of Coprates Valley for example.

9000-meter high elevations, the Everest-sized ranges...it'd sure beat those little 200-meter hills we're looking at now...lol...:)

Within the catacombs of Olympus Mons, a network of caves and old volcano tubes that twist and turn throughout the entire width and depth of the mighty planet sized mountain. They've never been imaged by telescope or satellite, and rumors have it that there are secrets waiting to be learned deep within.  big_smile
