Shackleton Crater Race 2026 and beyond > Human Missions

This topic is offered for NewMars member to keep track of crewed expeditions to Shackleton Crater on the Moon.

In 2026, there is a race under way between Blue Origin and China to be first to place an unmanned probe on the Moon. We have created a topic to keep track of that race, and subsequent unmanned flights.

A permanently occupied base on the Moon is very likely to occur at or near Shackleon Crater, because of the availability of sunlight due to the location and elevation of the rim of the crater.  However, if there ** is ** a substantial supply of water inside the crater, or inside nearby craters, that resource would certainly encourage siting of permanent bases.

Re: Shackleton Crater Race 2026 and beyond > Human Missions

This post is reserved for an index to posts that may be contributed by NewMars members

Posts in this topic should be about crewed missions, including planning for crewed missions, or even speculation about crewed missions to Shackleton Crater.

Posts about Shackleton Crater itself would be a good fit as well.
