Center of Gravity Center of Mass

As the small team of NewMars members working on the Optical Plane Space Vessel advance in understanding the challenges ahead, the subject of Center of Gravity (and it's relative) Center of Mass have come into view.

This topic is available for NewMars members who might wish to contribute links, images or text on this subject.

It is particularly relevant to design of space craft, but it is also relevant to design of aircraft and even aquatic vessels.

Re: Center of Gravity Center of Mass

This post is about a report of research in China to develop a sensitive gravity measuring device. The equipment is (apparently/theoretically) sensitive enough to locate submarines.

It seems to me a device this sensitive might be useful in deep space exploration, and in particular, in exploration of the asteroid belt, where light levels are low and it would be difficult to detect asteroids using conventional methods.  A gravity detector would be handy, since gravity cannot be masked (as far as I know).
