A relative brought this chapter to my attention.
They had posted some drone footage of a volcano bubbling with lava.
I will try to find a way to link the footage. it is in Facebook at the moment, and thus is not available to everyone.
In the meantime, this topic is available for any current NewMars member to contribute posts about the region or about the chapter.

This post is reserved for a link to a video showing a volcano bubbling gently in Scandinavia.
It turns out the video I watched was one of a number that are (apparently) published by Mars Society Scandinavia on Facebook

One of the videos is suspect, because the comments reflect the unbelievable nature of the scene. Why that particular video is included in the collection is a mystery. The rest look reasonable.
However, issues over one video aside, the existence of this chapter is a reminder that there are folks in the Mars Society membership who might appreciate what this forum has to offer.

There is an interesting company in Sweden that is developing wave energy collection systems. Void provided a link to a report on their work in his Data Centers topic in late April of 2026. I followed up with a contact to the company, and invited anyone who might see my note to take a look at this forum and the Mars Society in general.
There isn't much wave action on Mars, but the Ingenuity that we see in the Wave Power Collection system is going to be welcome in the Mars endeavor.

Our forum is devoted to Mars development, but our members pay close attention to interesting developments of technology on Earth. Your achievement came to our attention, and it occurred to me that data centers need energy and plenty of water for cooling, and both are available in the Drake Passage. My interest is purely in the educational potential of your work at this point, so please don't reply if doing so would just be a professional courtesy. On the ** other ** hand, if anyone who comes into contact with this inquiry is interested in helping with the Mars project, we are sponsored by the Mars Society. I asked Google for confirmation, and there ** is ** a chapter in your region:Google: Yes, the Mars Society has a presence in Sweden, generally organized under a regional "Scandinavian chapter". While the Mars Society maintains various local chapters worldwide, Swedish members and activities are often grouped with neighboring countries to promote Mars exploration and awareness in the region.
The Mars Society +3
Regional Structure: The Mars Society recognizes a Scandinavian chapter, often managed by a dedicated team.
Previous Activity:
In 2016, a representative from Sweden was noted to have participated in international Mars Society-related expedition research. Getting Involved: Interested individuals in Sweden can explore joining the broader European or Scandinavian efforts through the main Mars Society website.
