The strangelet is a hypothetical particle consisting of a bound state of roughly equal numbers of up, down, and strange quarks.

most of the mass / energy of the neutron is in the form of the strong nuclear force energy or explained as gluons

In the fictional novel The Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi strangelets are mostly used as weapons, but during an early project to terraform Mars, one was used to convert Phobos into an additional "sun".

Quote

gluon, the so-called messenger particle of the strong nuclear force, which binds subatomic particles known as quarks within the protons and neutrons of stable matter as well as within heavier, short-lived particles created at high energies. Quarks interact by emitting and absorbing gluons, just as electrically charged particles interact through the emission and absorption of photons.

Huh. There were a lot more members back then.

Interesting reading posts from near two decades ago. Pre global financial crisis. Pre Crime Conflict (2014-). The Ansari X Prize was won that year by SpaceShipOne. The Space Shuttle was a thing; Falcon and Dragon were not. Facebook had just launched to the general population? Smartphones were in the future. Desktop computers were dominant. People were still on dialup. America had invaded Iraq a year prior. The Atheism Wars were raging on the internetworks. But offline little has changed, really. Especially when it comes to infrastructure in Britain...

Re: 102,004 A.D. - where will we be 100,000 years from now?

This is a public internet discussion forum so I hope Terraformer does not mind me quoting

This is a quote from a newmars member on discussing Nuclear Waste buried for thousands of years

Terraformer wrote:

I say we bury it in concrete, deep underground, and then leave no trace anything of interest is there. A sign that can't be read is worse than useless because it tells future humans "something valuable is buried here". Instead we should try to make it so that they'll only find it if they're advanced enough that they can decode the warnings.

Re: 102,004 A.D. - where will we be 100,000 years from now?

100,000 years seems too long

40-70 Years or maybe 200 to 500 can be predicted

maybe this is just fiction...or speculation

This assumes Earth is not wrecked by super Quakes, some Massive Solar event wrecking electric grids, a series of Religious Chemical Terror events, a Mega Volcano and super Tsunami, a Nuclear war between say India and Pakistan with fires and fallout spreading...or a big rock hitting the Earth from Space.

Synth-telepathy minds get connected like the web, people have translators in their heads and ears. As Chatbots do languages and AI now does translation better than some humans maybe Some kind of visual audio idea thought transmission could be possible by Neuralink, it might help people chat faster than words by way of Lateral thinking math, sound file and image, a new form meme internet language is born and of problem-solving

French, German, Japanese and Italian decline as languages and culture, they fade with any global influence but others grow the English, Spanish and Mandarin became dominant in the next years, periods of isolation and economic decline might see a new somewhat isolated regional language pop up an odd mix of Hindu Orthodox Arab cultures, a strange new regional pigeon slang language based on Belarusian, Arabic, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Bengali, Turkic, and some English and Russian loan words and as long as jihad and islamism exists the Arabs will continue to kill each other in acts of mass murder in acts of regional ethno sectarian violence and kill each other over how different words are pronounced what they consider correct Arabic pronunciation, the rest world gets bored with islam the mahomet person seen as a disgusting pedophile murdering savage, basic knowledge of the rape and violence of islamism proliferates faster than islamism, there is a huge Reconquista, Impale event or Inquistion to rid Southern France of the radical islamics, the original French culture slowly goes extinct, the Franc or Franks are now called something else, much of it for a time breaks into separate States, county, parish and local town with their own French but no longer French militias, people become split, a growth of sectarianism and  local conflicts pop up in France, the 'France' is now longer chique or 'cool' or hip. A strange sense of identity pops up, you are a Christian Arab from Lebanon or you are Celts, Iberians, Italic peoples Romans, you are African or Bantu from Senegal and Germanic Russian Orthodox or Dutch Greeks in southern France, later mixed with large groups of Spain and Germanic the old France is gone it is seen as a failed Empire and people culturally embarrassed to admit they are French they would rather be called an Italian, Luxembourger or Brazilian than admit they are of old French heritage, for a while as France breaks down most people begin to hate their own country until the new Franc or new Frank culture can reshape itself by good national cultural and economic leadership. Thousands upon thousands of desperate French refugees arrive by boat at the Statue of Liberty in NYC,  once again Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty is an inspiring, striking experience for people wanting a new life.

DNA and robotic engineering will perhaps be more common, humans who get illness or injury can be enhanced, loss of a limb in a car accident is not the end it is something to be fixed or re-grown or replaced by robot cybernetic plastic metal cyborg limb.

For a while parts of the world might become more Balkanized, even in the USA there could be political splitting Alaska or California wanting to lead the break-up of the US while another cultural trade link will open between Mexico, USA, Canada and political groups seeking to the Unite the USA politically and restore its Classic 'Greatness', the EU will perhaps break up more while at the same time Globalism expands by other means, the Swiss hidden banks will remain unique and Swiss.

We will have Thorium reactors in the Moon or maybe some Lunar company with nuclear fusion, however living on the Moon will still be very difficult for any human.
The Moon landscape looks like a dump, a broken down scrapyard for many types of old machinery, the Vulture Bots looking like StarWars Jawas come out at Lunar Dusk and Dawn trying to recycle the hundreds of metric tons.

Some sizeable percentage the National Armies and State soldiers and Police and Astronauts will be people born by artificial insemination, nano-bots will help stitch up wounds of athletes or soldiers, Nanorobots will flow around the body fixing it from the inside, they will also record audio and visual memory for witness in crimes or police responders to accidents.

A number of colonies will begin to form on Mars and Space Elevators linked to the Moons, the industrial Factories will put chemistry into the atmosphere which begins to Terra form the Planet.
There will be an international type science base on Europa, Titan, like different nations studied at the south Pole, there will be a floating Balloon village on Venus and power beamed from Mercury.
Tourism on Earth's Ocean Floor is routine and profitable.

Some regular un-enhanced people will embrace AI it will become a part of them just as a watch can be enhanced, pair of glass spectacles enhanced or mobile cell phone is part of normal life.
Others like the Amish have lots of kids and remain traditional they are a window to the past life, a unique order of Baptist Mennonite the Pennsylvania German Dutch but a super-city looks upon them, and yet they still outside a modern system on their own reservation, in Asia the Buddhist still living a tradition and outside the super-cities.

Changing the weather, already happening Cloud Seeding with silver iodide or dry ice solid CO2, potassium iodide, Liquid propane, Russians did it with Chernobyl and Arabs are doing it.

Re: 102,004 A.D. - where will we be 100,000 years from now?

Easy Trends to see in media entertainment now...All television is becoming Internet-based

In some thousands of years 'people' if they are still human will point to the Pole star and say it was once called 'Polaris' because used to be the Pole star but now Gamma Cephei,  regional ecosystems shocked and destroyed by invader alien species from other regions of Earth, massive changes in animal and plant life, the Moons of Uranus get more chaotic maybe even a little nudge and they will have collided, Betelgeuse or Alpha Orionis might have exploded on Earth the Sea Level towns hit hard after storms as Seas would rise by some feet or metres. We might get another big rock from space but it causes local devastation,  perhaps a "civilization-threatening" supervolcanic eruption.

Playing with 'Time' one of those scifi topics like Warp-Drive

Thinking About Time Travel Helps Solve Problems in Physics
https://www.universetoday.com/163743/th … n-physics/

Time travel. We’ve all thought about it at one time or another, and the subject has been explored extensively in science fiction. Once in a while, it is even the subject of scientific research, typically involving quantum mechanics and how the Universe’s four fundamental forces (electromagnetism, weak and strong nuclear forces, and gravity) fit together. In a recent experiment, researchers at the University of Cambridge showed that by manipulating quantum entanglements, they could simulate what could happen if the flow of time were reversed.

It gives me no joy to declare Vladimir Putin the geopolitical winner of the year. His position looks immeasurably stronger than a year ago. Kyiv’s much-vaunted counteroffensive has stalled; Mr. Putin’s economy has withstood Western sanctions; European resolve is fading; American support is fracturing
