This forum is open to application by persons who may be interested in manufacture of synthetic fuel using nuclear power not in Texas.
Please note that membership in the Mars Society is proposed for admission. The Mars Society bears the cost of the computer services and related services that support the NewMars forum.
I am looking for new members who are blessed with enough time and energy to participate for some time into the future.
Such folk must be ** out there ** !! We'd be glad to have you!
We are also happy to welcome former members back into the active community. It has been brought to my attention that a number of former members are marked as "banned". In many cases, this marking is a limitation of FluxBB, which is the forum software.
Because of the onslaught of thousands upon thousands of spammers over 20+ years, the decision was made to close off access to inactive accounts. Unfortunately, the only mechanism available is the "banning" tool. If you are an older member and you find your account has been banned, it may have been locked to prevent hacker access. You can ask SpaceNut to reactivate the account. See the procedure below. Those who were banned for inappropriate behavior may also apply. SpaceNut will then have the opportunity to evaluate your application.
GW Johnson has extended an invitation to readers of his ExRocketman blog, to visit NewMars. If anyone is interested in opening an account, just drop a note to the portal.
GW Johnson gave a presentation to the North Houston NSS on April 9th. This was a follow up to the Large Ship presentation given by RobertDyck on March 12th. Both presentations are available for viewing from northhoustonspace.org.

We have 11,199 freshly refurbished User Id's ready for new members, and Id's through 18,344 are waiting for finishing touches. We have run out of Usernames that may be eligible for upgrade for use by "real" members. We are halfway through a campaign to repair posts that contain artifacts that prevent proper display. Scan of 77,000 posts out of 77,000 were completed and the end point was found. Procedures to revise posts containing unneeded text are in place. Code to perform updates is finished and tested.
Approval to proceed IS granted, the project will resume in December, 2021.
Equipment to be used for the update series was tested and found ready to begin work on December 1st. The process will last through July of 2022 and well into August. Current date in repair is 2004/09. These posts have been updated : 1-52800
A quality assurance run is underway, to find any posts missed during the first pass. Current verified post is: 52800
We have multiple initiatives underway that can use assistance, or you can create your own initiative.
The author of a concept for a 17 person expedition to Mars has specifically requested participation by peers to help.
A proposal for an 8 member expedition is in review.
RobertDyck could use assistance of all kinds in development of the Large Ship proposal. There are three animation/drawing systems in play.
Fusion 360 is a version of commercial software by AutoDesk that is available for student non-commercial use. It requires a beefy computer.
Blender is a free animation package that includes drawing capability.
The Large Ship project may stimulate spinoff activities, such as a 3D Virtual Experience. Volunteers are needed. See Recruiting for details.
Large Ship has split into two versions. The original is a single rotating passenger vessel. The competitor is a counter rotating design.
Large Ship has also spawned a new topic dedicated to design and construction of an on-Earth Analog facility for living human beings.
Large Ship has also spawned a new topic dedicated to engineering design and construction on Earth of a flight ready prototype.
Large Ship has also spawned a topic dedicated to design and deployment of a Gravity Remediation facility for space travelers.
The My Hacienda topic is in need of 7,800 individuals to populate a virtual community to simulate self-sustainability on Mars
The subject of abundant energy supply for the population of Earth (and Mars in due time) is under discussion in the Nuclear Power is Safe topic. It seems reasonable (to me at least) to suppose all fossil fuel power stations can be replaced with modular nuclear fission packages quite rapidly if the people of Earth decide that is a good idea. It appears the leadership of China thinks that is a good idea for their nation.
A book was recommended for discussion: Beyond Oil and Gas: The Methanol Economy by Olah, Goeppert and Prakash
Abundant energy from modular fission reactors is continuing to receive attention.
A book was recommended for discussion: "Plentiful Energy" (about fission reactors).

For all ... we really ** are ** looking for members who want to make a difference by helping others with projects, or providing leadership on new projects. We have a ready supply of folks who can and will make comments and offer suggestions. We don't need more folks in that specialty.
Current date in repair is 2004/11. These posts have been updated : 1-54000
A quality assurance run is underway, to find any posts missed during the first pass. Current verified post is: 54000
We have multiple initiatives underway that can use assistance, or you can create your own initiative.

GW Johnson gave a presentation to the North Houston NSS on April 9th. This was a follow up to the Large Ship presentation given by RobertDyck on March 12th. Both presentations are available for viewing from northhoustonspace.org.

Current date in repair is 2004/11. These posts have been updated : 1-55200
A quality assurance run is underway, to find any posts missed during the first pass. Current verified post is: 55200
We have multiple initiatives underway that can use assistance, or you can create your own initiative.

We ** do ** need folks who can and ** will ** help project leaders already trying to achieve something in the real world.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

This forum is open to application by persons who may be interested in manufacture of synthetic fuel using solar power in Texas.

We ** do ** need folks who can and ** will ** help project leaders already trying to achieve something in the real world.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Current date in repair is 2004/11. These posts have been updated : 1-57900

A book was recommended for discussion: "Plentiful Energy" (about fission reactors).

to AhmadHi Ahmad!
Thanks for your follow up!
The NewMars forum is a part of the Mars Society.
I serve as a Moderator for the forum, and am constantly encouraging our members to contribute to the overall objective of setting up a working community on Mars.
I note you are in Montreal!
One of our members is RobertDyck, who lives in Canada, in Winnipeg.
RobertDyck has been working on a conceptual design for a large space vessel to carry 1060 passengers and crew back and forth to Mars, safely and in modest comfort. A distinctive design feature is the use of Unitary Rotation. This is simpler than a counter-rotating design, but stability is a concern.
A video presentation by RobertDyck is available for viewing at northhoustonspace.org. Look back to March of 2022 to find the presentation.
An Aerospace engineer, GW Johnson (PhD) gave a follow up talk in April, showing various ways of providing propulsion to deliver Large Ship to Mars and return her to Earth.
We have another member who is thinking about a smaller vessel, with counter-rotating habitat modules. Counter-rotating habitats have an advantage of inherent stability, but they are (obviously) more complex to build and to operate in space.
***
I found your ad in one of the space flight videos that Google offers, and decided to give it a try. I am familiar with Fusion 360, and appreciate the impressive work of your software engineering team, to produce the environment I saw when I opened the application.
***
Space flight is (of course) going to develop into multi-trillion (USD) businesses, if the people of Earth can avoid killing themselves off.
***
This is a good time for someone skilled in use of the tools you are offering, to contribute to growth of this future industry. At the moment, a gent with a background in finance has taken an interest in the Large Ship project. Last night in our weekly Zoom, we were looking at figures in the range of 3 Billion (USD) to 10 Billion ..;.
***
Thanks again for your inquiry .... if anyone you know is interested, I am looking for members who are able and willing to help move the ball.
You will find my posts in the newmars.com/forums as tahanson43206

Recruiting High Value members for NewMars.com/forums, in association with the Mars Society
Offline
NewMarsMember * gmail.com portal is open for business.
There was/were no incoming traffic item(s) at the Portal this morning. No outgoing message(s) was/were sent.
The forum is open to application by persons who may be interested in the Interstate 80 Pacific Ocean pipeline.
This forum is open to application by persons who may be interested in manufacture of synthetic fuel using solar power in Texas.

The next Zoom meeting(s) is/are scheduled for (Next) Sunday. We will be using the Professional Mars Society account.
Note: The Mars Society Zoom account is reserved for 7 PM Pacific Time on the Second Sunday of each month.
June 12th ** is ** the Second Sunday, so the NewMars Zoom will be limited to two hours.
On March 13th, the Seattle Chapter kindly invited NewMars Zoom attendees to join their meeting. I was impressed by the depth and quality of the discussions, and hope we may be invited to future meetings.
Time for early (European) meeting: 19:00 UTC <<== No host is booked. If you would like to see this meeting in action, say so.
Time for project meeting: To be determined as needed
Time for Early US/Canada/Mexico meeting: 0:00 UTC Monday If you would like to attend this Zoom, please post a message in the Zoom topic. The time slot is on hold for the near term, but it can be re-activated if there is interest.
Daylight Savings time took effect in the US ... The Night Owl hosted by kbd512 starts at 1 AM UTC. I am planning to attend.
NightOwl meeting: This is 1 hour into the Evening Zoom, and potentially of interest to Hawaii members.
Request: Please try to connect to the Zoom session shortly after it opens, as a courtesy to the host.
Update as of 2022/02/22 -- Scheduling of Attendance
Request: Please post (or email) your intention to attend a Zoom session, as a courtesy to the host.

There are nearly 8 billion people on Earth these days, and several billion have access to the Internet. This forum is accessible to ** every ** Earth citizen with Internet access. We ** know ** the site is of interest to spammers! Hopefully it is of interest to others who want to use their time more productively.
Read Post #2 of this topic for procedures to apply for membership. Mention specific assistance you wish to provide.

Current date in repair is 2004/12. These posts have been updated : 1-59100
A quality assurance run is underway, to find any posts missed during the first pass. Current verified post is: 59100
We have multiple initiatives underway that can use assistance, or you can create your own initiative.
Read Post #2 of this topic for procedures to apply for membership. Mention specific assistance you wish to provide.
For existing registered members who have lost your password ... If you remember the email address you used to register, you can request a recovery email at that address. If you no longer have the email available (as could happen over 20+ years) just write to this email address. Your request will be forwarded to SpaceNut, who has the tools available to assist as needed.
For all ... we really ** are ** looking for members who want to make a difference by helping others with projects, or providing leadership on new projects. We have a ready supply of folks who can and will make comments and offer suggestions. We don't need more folks in that specialty. We ** do ** need folks who can and ** will ** help project leaders already trying to achieve something in the real world.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
