I don't really know the solution to this 'drug' thing is... but what the USA has done and what the Biden Kamala Harris Admin is doing is not working. In parts of the USA they tried legalization, parts of New York or California allowing weed or hemp, there are marijuana laws in some States since recreational legalization, its not just a Liberal thing some GOP officials want to legalize pot and stop having people arrested for Weed. Canada is now making efforts to decriminalize hard-drug possession and be more liberal with Weed, parts of Europe already have some open attitudes with drug use. There are some studies that say Weed might not be such a dangerous drug, less dangerous than say 'Alcohol' or cigarettes tobacco engineered to be one of the most addictive legal and "controlled" substance, tobacco, cigarettes, are long term are very dangerous, often causing lung cancer. Some coutnries operate a class system for drugs with 'A' being a more dangerous and illegal than B, the Class C drugs or Class D they say are less dangerous for people, something like Fentanyl or rapid-acting synthetic opioids are ranked as Class-A in parts of this world transporting an illegal Class A could mean death if caught by police or military, there is a social theory that Weed among young is a gateway to other drug cultures.
I guess this could go in one of those 'Mars Booze' threads or 'Drugs and Smoking Good Or Bad' topic but with 100 Thousand dying I felt this could have its own topic.
The war on drugs is not a success and has lost the US Citzien Billions upon Billions in tax payer dollars Some parts of the world have a more brutal attitude against drugs, Cuba, Taiwan, China, Thailand will send in police and military for drug dealers, smugglers can be locked inside jail cells the size of small cages for years, drug dealers are often executed. US Border agents reported a 1,060 + % increase in drugs seized in south Texas last year, if you don't have the Police it seems Bureaucracy or Legalization will not solve the world's problems. Weed is legal in some parts of this world, a less dangerous drug but some with long exposure can experience emotions, like anxiety, stress, it can drop people's energy levels make folk more lethargic, for some it could trigger illness there are people who still suffer from marijuana cannabis-related paranoia. Outright banning something that people are going to take might not be the answer either, Prohibition in the United States only really gave more power to the Mafia. Some US doctors and pharmacists are gicing out too much medication and are doing a job killing Americans by legal means. Only the country of Ukraine is said to have a possible higher Death Rate from drugs than America , maybe the midset is not good after going through a civil war and Russian troops now on its border. Afghanistan it seems Heroin and Opuim are back, it seems it is also Poised to Become Largest Distributor of Crystal Methamphetamine, inside the US some drugs cross the Southern Border from south America other drugs come from places as far as Afghanistan. Drugs and human trafficking and smuggler routes from all the way down South are ending up inside Us Northern States. In the USA the tragic death event of Overdosing is now the leading cause of death for the younger people in the United States, accounting for more deaths than traffic fatalities or gun homicides and suicides.

Drawing from the latest available death certificate data, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that 100,300 Americans died of drug overdoses from May 2020 to April 2021. It's not an official count. It can take many months for death investigations involving drug fatalities to become final, so the agency made the estimate based on 98,000 reports it has received so far.
The CDC previously reported there were about 93,000 overdose deaths in 2020, the highest number recorded in a calendar year. Robert Anderson, the CDC's chief of mortality statistics, said the 2021 tally is likely to surpass 100,000.
“2021 is going to be terrible," agreed Dr. Daniel Ciccarone, a drug policy expert at the University of California, San Francisco.
t found the estimated death toll rose in all but four states — Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey and South Dakota — compared with the same period a year earlier. The states with largest increases were Vermont (70%), West Virginia (62%) and Kentucky (55%).
Minnesota saw an increase of about 39%, with estimated overdose deaths rising to 1,188 in May 2020 through April 2021 from 858 in the previous 12-month period.

ISP: Teens vulnerable to social media drug dealers
https://cdapress.com/news/2022/jan/09/i … g-dealers/
COEUR d’ALENE — Gone are the days of buying drugs from unknown dealers on the street.
Trawling the dark web isn’t necessary, either — not when individuals can connect with local and faraway dealers on messaging apps popular among young people.
With deadly fentanyl-laced pills flooding North Idaho and the drug trade booming on social media, local law enforcement wants teens and parents alike to understand the dangers of these substances.
“This isn’t (teens) finding shady dudes on a street corner,” Idaho State Police Capt. John Kempf said. “They’re finding shady dudes on their phones.”
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that’s 50 to 100 times more powerful than morphine. It is typically used to treat patients with severe pain, especially after surgery.
The prevalence of fentanyl in North Idaho is relatively recent.
The first time Kempf encountered it was in 2019, during a Post Falls drug bust where police seized large quantities of black tar heroin — then the predominant illicit opioid — as well as around 8,000 fentanyl pills.
At the time, there wasn’t a demand for fentanyl.
“They couldn’t sell (the pills), so they mixed them in with heroin,” Kempf said.
Now the substance is flooding the local market.
About one in six counterfeit pills circulating in North Idaho contains a lethal dose of fentanyl, according to the Coeur d’Alene Police Department.
Illicit drugs are often diluted with cheaper materials in order to stretch the product.
Because it’s less expensive to produce than other opioids, fentanyl is a popular choice to mix with other drugs, like heroin and meth.
There’s no quality control when it comes to counterfeit pills.
One pill can have a dose that gets someone high, while another from the same batch contains enough fentanyl to kill the user.
“You can smoke half a pill now and half later and the second half has the deadly dose that kills you,” Kempf said.
In 2019, there were 24 overdose-related deaths in Kootenai County.
That number spiked in 2020, when 33 people died due to drug overdoses. Of those deaths, eight were fentanyl-related.
A total of 33 people died due to overdoses in Kootenai County last year — with 16 deaths tied to fentanyl, twice as many as the year before.
Five of those deaths occurred in the same week.
Among them was a 15-year-old Lake City High School student, who died after taking a counterfeit pill made to look like legitimate medication.
Fentanyl pills — called “mexis” or “mexi-blues” — are stamped to look like prescription narcotics like Oxycontin or Xanax.
While some people intentionally seek mexis, others believe they’re purchasing legitimate prescription pills.
Teens and other new drug users are especially vulnerable to deception.
“As late as this summer, we had dealers selling to kids, advertising their pills as legitimate and not mexis,” Kempf said.
Word is spreading about the dangers of fentanyl — but it’s virtually impossible for users to know for sure if the pills they purchased contain the substance.
Fentanyl is tasteless, odorless and too small to see. There is no way to know if a substance contains a potentially lethal amount of fentanyl by looking at it.
Drugs acquired from “trusted sources” are not safer than drugs bought from strangers. Pills are laced with fentanyl long before they reach the dealers, friends and acquaintances who dole them out.
Kempf said young people are often more inclined to experiment with pills than other forms of opioids.
Taking pills carries less stigma than smoking or injecting drugs, Kempf said, making the mental hurdle easier to get over.
“It’s a pill, not a needle,” Kempf said.
Exacerbating the issue is easy access to illegal pills via social media.
Though different social networking platforms wax and wane in usage, ISP Detective Tim Snell said the messaging app Snapchat has remained consistently popular among teens — and drug dealers.
The app lets users post and exchange pictures and videos that disappear after they’re viewed.
Snell said dealers on Snapchat use emojis and coded language to let friends and followers know what they’re selling.

SpaceNut,
The cartels build new drug factories faster than they can be found and shut down. The cartels often have as much or more firepower than the Police do. Everyone says they don't want militarization of the Police, but then you expect them to deal with people who have armed aircraft, speed boats, submarines, machine guns, rocket launchers, man-portable surface-to-air missiles, and an endless supply of cash to coerce poor people into doing what they want them to do, because the socialists and communists who run those countries into the ground also impoverish everyone to the point that they'll do absolutely anything for a dollar to get their next meal. The military is also not supposed to be used for civilian law enforcement unless martial law is declared. Decide what you want the Police to do, then give them the equipment to do it, but you can't have it both ways.

The fentanyl being imported into the US is manufactured in China.
https://www.uscc.gov/research/fentanyl- … ted-states
This is basically a Chinese proxy war against the US, using Mexican drug gangs as a puppet army. The Chinese will provide these people with whatever they need to kill American citizens. You folks will need a heavily armed police force to deal with this problem. And there needs to be a border wall with Mexico to make it as difficult as possible to traffic drugs, people and arms into the US. Weakness is something you cannot afford at this point.

The ‘unspoken pandemic’: Fentanyl manufacturing explodes in Mexico, leading to overdoses in SoCal
https://ktla.com/news/local-news/the-un … -in-socal/
From 2014 to 2019, 70 to 80% of fentanyl seized by federal authorities came from China, according to a report from the U.S. Commission on Combating Synthetic Opioid Trafficking.
The Chinese manufacturers “relied on the internet to sell their drugs and on the international mail and parcel delivery systems to ship their products to the United States,” the report said.
Since 2019, however, production has shifted to Mexico, where precursors from China and other Asian countries are made into fentanyl, which is then brought by land into the U.S.
“Fentanyl coming from Mexico is often of very low purity—generally, in powder form around or slightly above 10 percent—but now accounts for almost all the fentanyl that law enforcement has seized since late 2019,” the report added.
Meanwhile, SoCal residents are overdosing on this powerful drug, some of them fatally, in what Dr. Thomas Yadegar calls the “unspoken pandemic.”

Trump in his speech said he would be President and claimed he would get the 'Death Penalty' for the Drug Dealers.
'Hemp' or 'Weed' I can see why some cultures tolerate but class A drugs destroy cities and nations
I wonder what kind of mindset do people have flooding streets with drugs, causing mass death, is it just a game and trade of death, winning and killing to get another person's turf or do they have no empathy or morality?
That guy across the border chose to poison America when instead he could have teamed to supply Pharma, not that all BigPharma is good, they can also slowly poison people but there had to be some company out there that provided pain killer meds or whatever in a legit form.
The Mexican or Colombia gang or other gangster made the choice to supply death and greed and misery in a life of crime.
How El Chapo’s sons built a fentanyl empire poisoning America
https://www.reuters.com/investigates/sp … ket-newtab
Collectively known as Los Chapitos, or “the little Chapos,” the four siblings were once mocked by adversaries as entitled princelings more concerned with flashing their wealth on Instagram than the grubby work of moving tons of cocaine into the United States. Yet the brothers have resuscitated a drug empire teetering after their father was locked behind U.S. bars and diversified the business by embracing a new line of synthetic drugs. Their early bet on fentanyl, a synthetic opioid 50 times more powerful than heroin, helped supercharge an opioid epidemic that has placed them squarely in the crosshairs of American anti-narcotics agents. But these young guns have also built a reputation as sharp businessmen. They’ve helped transform Mexico from a transit country for Chinese-produced fentanyl into a major production hub, half a dozen U.S. officials and DEA sources said. To do that, they said, Los Chapitos built a network of clandestine laboratories across Sinaloa and ramped up smuggling of precursor chemicals from China. The earnings have been astronomical. The cartel can turn $800 worth of precursor chemicals into fentanyl pills or powder that reap profits as high as $640,000, according to one of the April indictments, which was filed in the Southern District of New York. That cash, U.S. prosecutors say, has bankrolled a war chest used by the brothers to bribe politicians and cops, and finance an ever-growing army of sicarios, or hit men, to protect their interests.
Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera , commonly known as "El Chapo" a Mexican former drug lord and a former leader within the Sinaloa Cartel, an international crime syndicate.
Guzmán was first captured in 1993 in Guatemala and was extradited and sentenced to 20 years in prison in Mexico for murder and drug trafficking. He bribed prison guards and escaped from a federal maximum-security prison in 2001. His status as a fugitive resulted in an $8.8 million combined reward from Mexico and the U.S. for information leading to his capture, and he was arrested in Mexico in 2014.He escaped prior to formal sentencing in 2015, through a tunnel dug by associates into his jail cell. Mexican authorities recaptured him following a shoot-out in January 2016, and extradited him to the U.S. a year later. In 2019, he was found guilty of a number of criminal charges related to his leadership of the Sinaloa Cartel, was sentenced to life imprisonment, and incarcerated in ADX Florence, Colorado, United States

A Rafale fighter jet was dispatched after a single-seater tourist plane flew near a nuclear plant.
A Rafale jet, one of France’s most modern fighters, went to check on the aircraft and "witnessed very erratic behaviour in the cockpit, real agitation", a military spokesperson told Agence France-Presse, a French news agency.
The local prosecutor’s office said the pilot is a Polish national with a history of drug offenses.
Investigators found 15 packages scattered across the ground containing nearly 70 pounds of a "white powder" that is being analysed.
Approximately €45,000 — roughly equivalent to $49,000 — were found in the cockpit of the small airplane, which was registered to Poland.
