The real issue with the contract which started the telescopes design to build has been an issue from the start with the many cost over runs to poor quality control causing delays and a final price tag that is way to high for what this telescope will do.

The James Webb Space Telescope is a space telescope being jointly developed by NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Canadian Space Agency. It is planned to succeed the Hubble Space Telescope as NASA's Flagship astrophysics mission.

Launch date: December 22, 2021
Cost: 10 billion USD (2016)
Weight: 14,000 pounds
