How could that "effective populist" ever win a future Presidential election now we know an election can be stolen and the Supreme Court won't lift a finger, even when a case is filed by several States of the Union?  The Supreme Court has totally abandoned the American people. It's probably the most egregious desertion in American history. There's absolutely no chance of a populist ever winning again. It's over. The only thing that will change this is a popular revolt. And of course that is the one thing that the current administration is totally focussed on preventing through exemplary punishments, savage laws, consitutional innovation and so on.

I'd love to think the American people have the spirit to overturn the tyranny but I doubt it. We are all such creatures of the media and the internet now. That is the one thing that could make a difference: the populist opposition in the USA need to build a totally separate media and social media. That is the only way out of the tyranny. It's Step One. Without that, nothing else will happen. But be under no illusions will use every method to prevent that happening.

SpaceNut,

If Democrats don't stop fixating on the past, which cannot be changed, no matter any belief to the contrary, there's a very high likelihood that a more effective populist, someone who isn't as benevolent as President Trump is, will win office next.

Have you been paying attention to the price of oil lately?  Brent is now North of $60/barrel with supply shortages widely expected.  This is happening at a time when the US and Europe are technically in recession.  Something that used to drive prices down.  It is coming at the end of the biggest financial bubble in history, with US government debt alone having roughly tripled since 2008.  In the time since then, there has been practically zero organic growth in the OECD, practically all recorded growth is the result of spending borrowed money, fuelling asset price inflation.  The wealth of bottom 90% (including the shrinking middle class) has declined.

High oil prices will result in a sharp rise in inflation over the next few years.  It will tend to push the value of the dollar down as well, as the number of dollars flowing into oil producing countries increases.  So the effect will be doubly inflationary for the US dollar.  At some point, the federal reserve will have no choice but to raise interest rates in order to halt the declining value of the dollar.  What then will happen to all the debt that has accumulated since 2008?  Ans: it becomes unplayable.  That means a banking crisis.  It means widespread bankruptcies and falling government tax receipts.  All of it at a time when US government debt is higher than it has ever been before.  The government will be left with no choice other than to print the extra money (quantitative easing) to cover an enormous government deficit.  On top of the already inflated M2 money supply, that will trash the value of the dollar and knock it out of its position as global reserve currency.  Any additional borrowing after that, will only further degrade purchasing power.

In short, the US government isn't going to be able to afford to push people around for very much longer.  The thermodynamic energy collapse is baked in.  Amidst the turmoil, dissatisfaction of the white working and middle class, who after all bare the brunt of taxation, will explode.  And revolutionary movements will arise whilst the government is fighting to contain systematic failures across the pitch.  They will lack the resources to stop what is coming.  And with faith in the voting system destroyed, insurrection is the only means of driving political change.

Capitol Police: 6 officers suspended for alleged roles in riot and 29 others have been placed under investigation, for their actions in the January 6 riot, a department spokesman said Thursday.

At least seven officers in five other departments across the country have come under internal investigations as their presence in Washington during the assault comes to light through social media or other means.

One officer in New York, one in Philadelphia, two in Seattle, two in Virginia and one in Texas are under investigation by their departments for potential rules violations.

There will be more....

Not that we need any affirmation as to whom lead a coup as Local militias believed then-President Donald Trump was calling for their support ahead of the U.S. Capitol riot,

"His supporters said he would invoke the Insurrection Act to use the military to ensure his continued presidency despite the election results, which they viewed as fraudulently reported in large measure because of the rhetoric of the President, his congressional supporters, and the right-wing media."
