Shotwell as the go-and-do counterpoint to Musk's "big ideas" is precisely why Spacex is as successful as it is.  His TESLA operation doesn't have a Shotwell,  which is why it has had problems.

Looked at the other way round,  Spacex would not have been as successful with only Shotwell,  because it is Musk that brings the "big ideas",  not her. It takes both,  and in a situation where they counterbalance each other effectively.  One or the other cannot dominate managerially,  or it won't work.

Lol! As Musk might say - Tesla is "super-successful". Its valuation is now past BMW's. More than that it has completely change the global auto market.  Musk has killed off diesel pretty much already and electric cars will replace all hydrocarbon models within the next 20 years.

I am sure Shotwell is key to Space X's success but don't get carried away. Musk I think still has hands-on control on Space X. Who made the decision to run with stainless steel for the Starship?  I think it looks like Musk, not Shotwell.
