Putin says he wanted Trump to beat Clinton

Putin says he wanted Trump to beat Clinton
By Jordan Fabian
The Hill

trumpputin23_071618getty.jpg

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday he wanted President Trump to win the 2016 election, a comment sure to fuel more scrutiny of Moscow’s meddling efforts.

"Yes, I did, because he was the one who wanted to normalize relations with Russia,” Putin said when asked if he wanted Trump to win.
Trump decided to go ahead with his meeting with Putin despite the U.S. indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers who are accused of hacking Democratic entities in 2016.

The U.S. intelligence community has unanimously concluded that Moscow conducted a coordinated effort to interfere in the 2016 presidential race to boost Trump and hurt Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton

Trump said Monday he has "great confidence" in the intelligence community but said that Putin was "very powerful" in his denials that Russia was not involved.

Re: Putin says he wanted Trump to beat Clinton

SpaceNut,

When former President Obama said on national television that the elections were free, fair, and represented the will of the American people, was he lying?

If he was lying, then why should the American people have hired his Secretary of State as their next President?

You did not respond to the post by SpaceNut and instead raised a different matter which is the standard operating procedures of trolls.

And when you make Trump like claims you might consider posting credible links which you rarely do.

Re: Putin says he wanted Trump to beat Clinton

What did obama do is fair and here is what was done Obama Administration Rushed to Preserve Intelligence of Russian Election Hacking was it enough as it did not stop there as Obama Tells Trump: Stop ‘Whining’ and Trying to Discredit the Election which was his main calling card for fake news and its rigged. Even today Trump is still not listening as to what happened 2017 Lie of the Year: Russian election interference is a 'made-up story' It seems unlikely — though not impossible — that Russia interference changed the outcome of the election. Hacking into the vote counting system but thats not where they hacked as it was the registry data bases for legal voters which change votes cast. The claim that obama did nothing is not true. Fact Check: Did The Obama Administration Respond To Election Interference By Russia? It did take awhile for the captured data to be abvle to indict the 12 Russian intelligence agents that has been proven hacked the DNC and other Democratic groups during the 2016 election all of which Trump just ignored. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Unit … _by_Russia
Obama after meeting with Putin did go before the public to indicate that they should control the election and vote as it did matter. FACT CHECK: Why Didn't Obama Stop Russia's Election Interference In 2016?

Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, called the media event "one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory."

"President Trump proved not only unable, but unwilling to stand up to Putin," McCain said in a statement. "He and Putin seemed to be speaking from the same script as the president made a conscious choice to defend a tyrant against the fair questions of a free press, and to grant Putin an uncontested platform to spew propaganda and lies to the world.

"Russia is not our friend," Gowdy said in a statement. "Russia attempted to undermine the fundamentals of our democracy, impugn the reliability of the 2016 election, and sow the seeds of discord among Americans."

Putin admitted that he wanted Trump to win the election in the news question interviews.

Re: Putin says he wanted Trump to beat Clinton

EdwardHeisler,

I responded to SpaceNut's latest attempt to insinuate that the Russians influenced our Presidential elections process with the plain and simple truth of the matter.  President Trump was elected by the American people, the Russians never had any say so in the process, and former President Obama said that the elections were free and fair on national television.

Credibility is established through tangible evidence.  You don't have any of that, and neither does anyone else, which is why you have no credibility with me or the American people.  All you have is your personal hatred for people you have political disagreements with and that's pretty sad.

Here's a credible source for you:

President Obama Full Speech on Donald Trump Win

Stop whining, stop crying, and stop blaming everyone else for the personal failures of one political candidate in one election.  There's another election in two years.  There's another chance to elect whomever you see fit at that time.

kbd512:    You still have not responded the post by SpaceNut and continue to make irrelevant comments.

And now using another standard operating procedure of right-wing trolls and the President you adore,  you just make shit up without providing documentation!

You falsely claimed that President Obama said that the elections "were free and fair, and represented the will of the American people on national television"

That's yet another lie posted by you.    I saw the full youtube video of his statement.    Obama never said that.   Did you listen to the video with your mouth instead of your ears?

So stop posting your Trumpian like lies on this board.

Posters can read the full transcript of what President Obama actually said at https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/th … -president

You didn't want us to read the transcript.  The transcript exposes your deception and lie and that explains your failure to post a link to it.

You have no credibility here based on your constant lies, deceptions, misleading talking points and constant attempts to change the subject when you can't respond effectively to a point made by a poster.

You've disrespected posters and this board long enough.

Re: Putin says he wanted Trump to beat Clinton

The out come of the 2016 voting is not over as the time that it seems to require to confirm data from what happened is stioll being worked on in reverse to locate what happened and where.
Still on going attacks
500,000 Illinois Voters had their Information stolen in 2016 Elections Hacking The Illinois State Board of Elections has issued a press release on the malicious cyber attack on the statewide voter registration database. .

The Russian Effort To Hack State Election Systems Was Bigger Than We Knew, Indictment Suggests; Among the targets of Russian hacking was a private company that is key to the administration of US elections, according to the newest special counsel indictment.  The targets of that effort, the indictment says, included a US company that provides local election offices across the country with software used to verify voters’ identities, the indictment said.

So much for a real ID for voting....

They did, at least, have some sense of local targeting, the indictment said, probing individual counties in Georgia, Iowa, and Florida for vulnerabilities on Oct. 28, 2016, 11 days before the election.

How far back can we find evidence of the hacks 8/2016 of llinois and Arizona.

What we know about the 21 states targeted by Russian

The hackers had gained access to the state's voter database, which contained information such as names, dates of birth, genders, driver's licenses and partial Social Security numbers on 15 million people, half of whom were active voters.

This is what evidence of a crime looks like and it doesn't come from tabloids masquerading as news:

Russian National Charged in Conspiracy to Act as an Agent of the Russian Federation Within the United States

United States of America v. Mariia Butina - Criminal Complaint

United States of America v. Mariia Butina - Affidavit in Support of an Application for a Criminal Complaint

Ms. Mariia Butina's "big conspiratorial crime" against the US was entering the US under false pretenses as a college student and attending a national prayer breakfast where NRA members were present, and then trying and failing to get President Putin invited to the national prayer breakfast.  She sounds just like one of SpaceNut's "Dreamers", except the Russians paid her bills instead of the American taxpayers.

It's the crime of the century!  Someone from Russia conspired to try to get the Russian President invited to brunch with President Trump and FAILED!  ALERT THE MEDIA!  Oh, wait...

Apologies.  I provided a link to the wrong video.  The former President ran his mouth so much that it was hard for me to keep track of all of it.

Obama Final Press Conference of 2016

Full transcript: President Obama’s final end-of-year press conference

From the transcript:

Reporter: Mr. President, thank you very much. Can you, given the intelligence we've heard, assure the public that this was a free and fair election and on Russia do you feel any obligation now as they've been insisting that this isn't the case, to show the proof, as it were, that they say 'put your money, where your mouth is' and declassify the the intelligence that exists and more broadly as it relates to Donald Trump on this topic? Are you concerned about his relationship with Vladimir Putin given some of the recent cabinet picks including his selection for Secretary of State, Rex tillerson, who toasted Putin with champagne over oil deals together?

I may be getting older, because these multipart questions I -- [ laughter ] I start losing track.

Reporter: Free and fair.

Obama: I can assure the public that there was not the kind of tampering with the voting process that was of concern, and will continue to be of concern going forward, that the votes that were cast were counted, they were counted appropriately, we have not seen evidence of machines being tampered with. So that assurance, I can provide. That doesn't mean that we find every single potential probe of every single voting machine all across the country. But we paid a lot of attention to it, we worked with state officials, et cetera and we feel confident that that didn't occur and that the votes were cast and they were counted.

EdwardHeisler wrote:

A mistake made from going off of memory, followed up with a correction to the correct link and transcript is not a lie, it's an error.  President Obama assured the American people that the elections were free and fair at a televised White House Press Conference.  In a world where substance mattered more than superficial appearance or partisan political beliefs, something that someone like you clearly doesn't care about, you'd at least try to determine the validity of a claim before calling people names.

I didn't bother responding to SpaceNut because I read the actual legal documents associated with the link he posted.  He's posting anything he can find that he thinks will support his partisan political beliefs that the elections were rigged/hacked/stolen/etc.  Ms. Butina's crime is the equivalent of trying to get yourself invited to a dinner at the White House by claiming you're somebody who knows somebody.  Scary stuff.  Somebody might talk to someone somewhere about something... or not, in this case.

EdwardHeisler wrote:

Clinton's closest aide is the daughter of Saudi family who propagandised in the USA (via a magazine) for an extreme form of Sharia.  HA was associated with the family's activities. Anything about this in the New York Times, on CNN ever?  I doubt it.  This is before we get on to pay to play donations to the Clinton Foundation...By comparison Trump is squeaky clean.

How do you know that is true.   Trump hasn't released any of his tax returns or any information on his business dealings with Russian capitalists.     And we haven't seen any of the investigation findings with the exception of indictments that have been made.   There will be many more.

More reasonable people believe that Putin has some materials and information indicating that Trump has helped to launder Russian money using Trumps numerous business interests in the world.    That would certainly explain Trumps groveling before Putin.    We will find out what shady business dealings and criminal activities Trump and his family have been involved in if the special prosecutor is not fired by Trump.

That's probably why Trump and his apologists have been engaged in constant attacks on the FBI and the special prosecutor.   If you throw enough mud some of it may stick.   Trump's propaganda campaign against the investigation is laying the basis for an presidential decree firing the special prosecutor, the Depurty Attorney General and any other government officials who stand Trumps way of ending the investigation of his billionaire family empire.

Let the investigation continue and we'll find out the truth.  If the Trump clan is clean they won't and can't be prosecuted and/or be impeached.

Is Trump really play in his own show trying to get to that catch phrase, Your Fired!

The dismay from what was said is showing in the fallout as Republican in heart of Ohio's Trump country resigns over summit with Putin

Belmont County, Ohio, Republican Chairman Chris Gagin on Twitter Monday announced his resignation shortly after the controversial press conference in Helsinki where Trump praised Putin and declined to side with U.S. intelligence services.

GOP lawmakers have largely criticized Trump's performance in Helsinki - even those who do not typically split with the president.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) called Trump's statements "shameful" and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said they were a "sign of weakness."

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said it was wrong to draw a moral equivalence between Russia and the U.S., and insisted the intelligence community is correct in its assessment of Russian interference.

Re: Putin says he wanted Trump to beat Clinton

SpaceNut,

If former FBI Director Mueller has any evidence that President Trump was laundering money for the Russians, then where is it?

As many people in his own Republican Party and the Democrat Party dislike President Trump, how hard do you think it would be to get him impeached with such evidence?

Our government has been investigating President Trump since 2016.  Two years and two separate investigations later, still no evidence.  When you're looking for something that isn't there, it can be really hard to find it unless you manufacture the evidence yourself.

If this is really about deterring Russian aggression, then what did former President Obama's administration do about the Russian military forces that invaded the Ukraine, beyond giving speeches on TV or telling Putin to "cut it out"?  Why did the Trump administration approve the sale of weapons to Ukraine, but the Obama administration did not?  If he's worried about whatever it is that the Russians clearly don't have on him, then why would he provoke them by giving weapons to Ukraine and launching cruise missile and air strikes on Syria?  Why would we kill 100 to 300 of the Russian mercenaries who launched a failed attack on our military forces in Syria?  Are those the actions of a man who is beholden to Russia's President?

Former President Clinton managed to get Ukraine to give up their nuclear weapons, two decades later the Russians invaded, and the next Democrat-run administration did nothing effectual about it.  The Russians are still there.  The people from Ukraine and Russia still fight each other sporadically, and the country is still a mess.  At least now we're arming Ukraine to deter the Russians.

Is it even possible that President Trump is trying to improve relations with the only other country on the planet with thousands of nuclear tipped weapons pointed back at us?

Since former President Obama went on his own little apology tour, why not President Trump?

Incidentally, a "strong President" doesn't "draw a red line" and then do nothing when the enemy crosses that red line.  Former President Obama told the Syrians he would respond if they launched chemical weapons attacks on their own people and had our military sit on their hands after the Syrian military gassed their people.  Former Secretary of State Clinton never asked for assistance from the most powerful military in the world, our military, while her own diplomatic personnel were being mortared and machine gunned to death in Benghazi.

President Trump found the air base where the Syrian planes launched from and turned it into a smoking hole in the ground while he was eating dinner with President Xi.  President Trump parked three aircraft carriers off the coast of North Korea when they threatened their neighbors with ICBM's and had our B-52's and B-1's orbiting off their borders, practicing strikes into their capital city.  Eventually, they sued for peace and we finally have a declared end to the war.  The cost to America was not holding military exercises every year a few miles from their border.

In the military world I lived in, strength was demonstrated through right action and perseverance, not running your mouth.

Re: Putin says he wanted Trump to beat Clinton

We have talked about Clinton and Benghazi before and the half truths

Ever since the September 11, 2012, attack of a United States outpost in Benghazi, Libya, that left four Americans killed, questions have continued to arise over the role of then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the attack — or rather, a potential failure to do anything about it. However, is Clinton complicit in the Benghazi attack?

House Benghazi Report Finds No New Evidence of Wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton

The 800-page report delivered a broad rebuke of the Defense Department, the Central Intelligence Agency and the State Department — and the officials who led them — for failing to grasp the acute security risks in Benghazi, and especially for maintaining outposts there that they could not protect.

Among the committee’s chief findings:

■ Despite authorization from President Obama, no American military forces were deployed to Benghazi on the night of the attacks, and Marines stationed in Spain repeatedly received conflicting orders.

■ The Libyan forces that helped evacuate Americans from a C.I.A. annex to the Benghazi airport were not part of militias allied with the United States, but were fighters previously loyal to Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi of Libya.

■ Susan E. Rice, then the United States ambassador to the United Nations, made numerous false statements about the Benghazi attack on television that one State Department press officer described in an email as “off the reservation on five networks!”

■ Senior State Department officials — including Mrs. Clinton’s chief of staff, Cheryl D. Mills — exerted too much influence over the Accountability Review Board that conducted the department’s own inquiry, casting doubt on its independence and findings.

■ The Obama administration repeatedly sought to obstruct the select committee’s investigation by delaying or refusing to respond to requests for documents and testimony.

Why were no military forces deployed when directed as there is only one commander and chief?

The rest of this sounds like the same playbook does it not?

Re: Putin says he wanted Trump to beat Clinton

SpaceNut,

The Obama administration narrative was that we had "beaten" the terrorists because it was an election year.  Well, guess what?  The enemy gets a vote in that matter.  The attack on our mission was a little reminder that they're still out there doing what they always do until we find them and kill them.

All they had to say to the families was "We don't know who did this right now, but when we do they'll receive a little care package from the CIA."  That's it.  That's the only "explanation" required.  The story they made up about some internet video is just bizarre.  It's just another example of Mrs. Clinton lying about things that don't even need to be lied about for reasons that nobody but her understands.

The Senate on Thursday voted unanimously against allowing Russia to question US officials after the Trump administration signaled it might be open to related proposal from Russian President Vladimir Putin. So now we're never going to get to interrogate the people our intelligence agencies say are responsible for the election meddling?

That sounds like a brilliant plan to me.
