Former Astronaut criticizes LOP-G plans.

Former NASA Astronaut, Terry Virts, has spoken out against the Lunar Orbiting Platform-Gateway as being an unnecessary complication in NASA plans to return to the lunar surface.

"Gateway will only slow us down, taking time and precious dollars away from the goal of returning to the lunar surface and eventually flying to Mars."

He probably states this openly as he's now retired from the Astronaut corps. Undoubtedly others at NASA share this viewpoint but are unable to articulate in public forums for fear of reprisals or retaliation.

No doubt.

You get thrown "in jail" for telling the emperor he has no clothes on.

It only works if there is plenty of traffic using it and lots of cargo going up and down from the station to prove to be of any value. As its lunar oxygen that is the cargo to this station and other stuff that earth wants.
