Does anyone here think that all the smoke and dust that the bombing in Iraq produces will effect Eastern Europes's environment. I know that one time there was a forest fire in Canada and my family could smell it here in Pennsylvania. Will the Iraq bombings have a similar effect on Europe?

I think the wind normally blows from the West to the East in Iraq. Dust and smoke would more likely effect Iran and India than Eastern Europe.

That's it!!! The smoke...yeah the U.S. could only gain support from 30 obscure little countries because of the post-war smoke. It was so obvious!
Now really, I am much more concerned about the poor Iraqi citizens who are wandering around looking for their HOUSES!!!

Ian,
At first glance I assumed you were from Eastern Europe but I see you live in Pennsylvania. ??? What makes you think of Eastern Europeans before thinking of the Middle Eastern people? Seriously, I would like to understand your logic.

Hmm, not to really get in to this discussion, but I was thinking the other day that the huge sand storm that occured a few days ago (and lasted a few days) was the result of the Iraqi's burning oil, and cooling the spring air because the smoke would block sunlight. Does this idea make any sense?
I would suspect that the cooler the air is around an area, the harder and faster a high front would come.
So yeah, Ian, I think that the smoke did actually have a fairly perceptable environmental impact, but I honestly wouldn't have a clue about this. I'm only commenting because someone who does might see this and enlighten me.
