Just finished a report wherein a lady is taking glass-blowing classes. That jump-started a little idea. I don't recall us discussing the possibility of artisans on Mars blowing glass.
I've seen glass being blown, on a few television shows. Looks interesting.

You are right about not talking about artisans but we have mentioned it before under a different group of topics.
Glass (edit bad link now)and even have side mentioned using glass in concrete to give a sort of roomy glow to the walls and of the star trekky alumina glass in another.
Having the ability to make glass and other items is a must if man is to go beyound landing, exploring and then leaving any destination that we have chosen to go to.

Ceramics are not just glass. Ceramics can include iron oxide pressed under great pressure into containers and tools.

How do you make glass on mars? Specifically, how do you make large quantities in volume that are designed to be modular in nature? Mastery of glass is a prerequisite for any kind of mars mission

We discussed glass a few times. Most recently in 3D Printers.
My argument was glass for windows requires a more traditional manufacturing technique, not 3D printing. But we discussed several glass making techniques.
