First, thank you (again) for helping with the increased security at Cloudflare! Your tip about using the Remember Me checkbox is certainly a key factor in success, but I have found that the "remember me" has to be set before it is safe to attempt a log in. I've found that entering a false ID and password with "Remember me" set on seems to create the conditions that allow the second attempt to succeed.
Second, I doubt you will miss seeing Isaac Arthur's latest video, but it seems to me we might post about the new video in other related topics. I put it in Moon, because it is set there, but it is about magnetic launchers, with plenty of mention of rockets as well.
Arthur does not seem to think much of rail guns. He mentions them, but his main focus is on magnetic coil launchers.
One detail I liked in his discussion of how long the track needs to be (120 km is a ballpark figure for human passengers) is his concept of adding adjustment of the track by equipment in the bed or adjacent to the track, to compensate for any forces at work. The forces that are certain to be at work are temperature related, but there may be others we don't know about yet.
Arthur envisions a passenger track with acceleration of only 1 G, which leads to his 131 kilometer length estimate, but a 3 G track would be "only" 120 km. A 10 G track would be even shorter if humans can stand that force after living in 1/6th G for a while.
On the other hand, inanimate payloads can be accelerated at 100's of G, so the tracks can be correspondingly shorter, at the expense of ** really ** robust magnetic systems.
