I noticed something yesterday that may relate to the discovery of potholes.
The number of posts reported by FluxBB for the entire forum is 196,576
However, the current post ID is 200728
The difference is: 4152
That would be a ratio of 4.152 potholes per 1000 posts.
In recent scans we've seen some high numbers, far above 4.152 ... this implies (to me at least) that we should expect lower numbers to show up as we go along.

Simple OCR is a subtask within the Potholes Scan activity....
The goal is to be able to "read" the pixels on the browser screen as a way of increasing reliability of the software.
At present, the software is relying on text scraped from the address bar or from the screen. These sources of status information work, but Simple OCR would ** really ** improve reliability.
The mini-project has been poking along, with only a few minutes invested per day, while I've been trying to understand the nature of the problem to be solved.
Today, I've decided to tackle full color collection in the first version. In the beginning of the Information Age, when RAM was limited and hard drive space was limited, the beginnings of spreadsheet software took place, with severe constraints on the programmers. A residual artifact of that time is the practice of collecting color information into a separate part of memory, and using that information over and over again for display of individual cells.
In the application I am building, I do not have any similar limitations. The pixel data arrives with color data for each individual pixel.
I've decided to make a Color Style for each cell, and not worry about trying to find the color code for each cell, as every spreadsheet package (that I know about) must do.
This decision means I have to go back to the Header phase, where Color Style is stored, and create a Color Style for each incoming cell.
At Row time, when cells are written out, I'm planning/expecting to be able to do a direct lookup for the Color Style for each cell as it arrives in the data flow.
Meanwhile, Pothole Scan is chugging along on the current run, which I'm hoping will finish before tonight's Zoom.

Special item for SpaceNut in Housekeeping ...
A couple of weeks ago (or so) I wrote about a worker across the street using a machine blower to send leaves into the street. You were kind enough to notice the situation.
Today, I took a look at what machines might be available to help with the chore of collecting leaves that fall into the street from the abundance of older trees we have in this neighborhood.
There are definitely two vendors with electric powered rotary brooms, and there may be more.
The price for the rotary broom attachment is about $300, and the price for the battery holder is about the same or perhaps a bit more.
The video showing both products definitely show that are designed to fling pebbles and other debris out from in front of the machine.
Prices are comparable, and they are both available from the same local retailer. i'll stop in tomorrow to see if they have one in stock. I'll also ask if the third vendor offers a product along these lines. I already have their cordless weed whip, and it works well.

Thanks for your comment in the post ... I hope to have information to report tomorrow afternoon.
In the mean time, I brought up the subject in the Zoom with kbd512 ... he suggested a leaf blower, and I actually think that is a quite good suggestion. The situation I am trying to deal with is leaves scattered all over the street, and a leaf blower would be an efficient way to get them over to the curb.
Next day update: A leaf blower would definitely make a logical addition to a street sweeping kit. A leaf blower can't efficiently move all debris on a street, but it could efficiently move large quantities of individual scattered leaves to the curb, where they could be collected efficiently by a snow shovel or a rotary brush.
A consideration for a residential neighborhood is the noise level of a leaf blower, compared to a rotary brush.

For SpaceNut re Possible Opportunity to Learn Javascript to run Web activity ...
Last Sunday, as kbd512 and I discussed operation of the Web projects we've been doing, kbd512 explained how he would have approached the problem.
It turns out that kbd512 has experience working with a language called Javascript, that can (apparently) be configured to run as a local web page on your computer, to perform various activities on the web, using your browser as a framework.
I gather that the language can access a file on the hard drive, if that is necessary.
I'm thinking about the remaining TestID's that need to be un-banned so they can be used for new users. That's not an urgent priority, since we don't have thousands of applicants for membership, but that ** is ** an unfinished task that I'd like to see checked off.
kbd512 showed us a commercial web automation tool that can do the job, and he showed us a script that he tested.
Nothing further happened because you wanted only 300 usernames to be processed per day, and since the script could have done the entire job in one run, kbd512 decided to set it aside.
Now we ** may ** have an opportunity to learn how to use Javascript to do the same thing, ** if ** kbd512 is willing to serve as a coach, ** and ** if you are willing to have a go. I'm quite interested in adding that skill to my tool set.
I bought a couple of books to try to understand how to do what kbd512 is saying can be done, but I decided the learning curve working from books was too steep, so I went with a language I know well, and achieved modest success after dealing with some complications.
A Javascript solution might well have been a lot better, ** if ** I had already known the language.
Microsoft just sent me an invitation to download a free eBook about Java. I don't know if it would be applicable to the problem we are working on, but I mention it as a possible source of guidance.

Back in the day of programming chains of components on circuit boards made use of the java script structure in windows 95 but that was in the 90's with lots changing since then.
I do not have time right now to invest in this at the moment and work is taking me in a different direction with excel to access data base commonality issue. That in itself will take a redesign to make the future changes that they need to have happen.

Thanks for confirming you have experience running Java script all the way back in the beginning of the Internet age !
With that foundation, I am hoping you would be willing to run a Javascript package if kbd512 is willing to coach me through the process of converting the script he already showed us, to Javascript.
The problem is that the script he wrote, using a commercial product, is not available to me (and apparently not to you either).
However, Javascript will run on Firefox, and I understand you have Firefox, as well as Chrome and Edge and perhaps other browsers.
What I will propose to kbd512, with your approval, is that we convert the TestID Unban script to Javascript, so you can run it.
Please confirm this plan would be acceptable.
