Re: "Lo-Carb" vs. Sugar Free - (...one can be a rip-off)

*I've been making the switch to sugar-free candy for a variety of reasons (keeping weight down, trying to lower triglycerides, etc.).  I don't know, of course, how many other folks here might be on low-carbohydrate diets, have a significant other or relative who is, etc.  Perhaps you've quickly caught on as well, but I want to share this information anyway.

I was shopping the other day when I decided to check out Atkins peanut butter cups and "Carbo-Lite" brand in a grocery aisle created especially for products labelled "lo-carb."  I jotted down grams (portion size), fat content and of course carbohydrate amount -- and $ amount.

Then I strolled to the regular candy section and checked Russell Stover and Hershey products labeled "Sugar Free."  The products labeled "Sugar Free" have the same amount of carbohydrates per serving (measured in grams) than products labeled "Lo-Carb", and generally cost $1.30 LESS per comparable package size.

"Sugar Free" packaging is the way to go; "Lo-Carb" is a rip-off; I have seen this consistently in many stores, even out of this town.  Check it for yourself, of course.  smile

P.S.:  I've noticed some "Sugar Free" products have less fat per serving too...gotta watch Atkins-brand products (::ouch:: on their fat content!)
