Re: Reconnecting with Mars Society

With the changes ongoing to reconnect with mars Society I thought that it would be a good idea to post about some of what has been going on efforts We Want You Back!

Ten years have passed since the founding convention of The Mars Society in Boulder, Colorado. In that decade thousands of people have joined our ranks to promote the goal of getting humans to Mars. However, in the last few years, we have lost a number of you. Some have simply let their membership lapse, even though they are active members in their chapters. Others have let their membership slip because they felt that we were not responsive enough to our membership. Regardless of the reasons, WE WANT YOU BACK.

Of course some attractive offers for joining are contained on the page.

I think that a more unified front by all space forums needs to be achieved as well. Many groups are still in there starting phases and those that are large have a lot of pull and say as to what will happen in the future.

There are lots of things to do both as a member and as someone that wants to join in and have some fun.

The Mars Project Challenge Has Begun!

The goal will be to undertake a project that will provide a REAL contribution to future human missions to Mars. Whether this involves launching hardware into space or testing technologies here on Earth, we intend to select a project that will advance planning for future Mars missions.

Of course as meantioned earlier there needs to be new blood as many chapters are no longer or never got of the ground with much of anything with respect to groups forming.

Re: Reconnecting with Mars Society

The United Allaince For Space Exploration needs to be set up, to provide a united front for space advocacy. It's what I've been saying on MarsDrive. (Everytime I mention it I'm going to place in a Hyperlink to the Site.)

Re: Reconnecting with Mars Society

Part of the confusion with "United Alliance For Space Exploration" is it can be taken as meaning United Space Alliance which is the Boeing/Lockheed Martin joint venture http://www.unitedspacealliance.com/ not to be mistaken for the coalition for space http://www.spacecoalition.com/ which also has these same businesses.

http://www.spaceexplorationalliance.org/ The Space Exploration Alliance

These are the partners for them:
Aerospace Industries Association
http://www.aia-aerospace.org/

Aerospace States Association
http://www.aerostates.org/

American Astronautical Society
http://www.astronautical.org/

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics
http://www.aiaa.org/

California Space Authority
http://www.californiaspaceauthority.org/

Federation of Galaxy Explorers
http://www.foge.org/

Moon Society
http://www.moonsociety.org/

The Mars Society
http://www.marssociety.org/

My way of thinking is that if you are a partner of any of these then you are already on the path that you speak of.

Re: Reconnecting with Mars Society

I used to find this forum from the Mars Society site, but there's no link anymore.  I didn't realize the site was back up until today.  Any chance they would add the link back?

Re: Reconnecting with Mars Society

Well, first, I don't remember you being one of more active users before the crash, so Welcome (back) to Newmars!

I know we are still the forums for the Mars Society, but I suspect that we're not linked to on their site because they are developing other content.  That said it obviously would not take up all that much time to put the link there.  I really strongly doubt that they are actually opposed to adding the link back though, so it's definitely a possibility.
