(quickly) CUT the Orion's weight is NOT so complex as could seem!
in my new article, you can find the FIRST of a series of SIMPLE, FAST, EASY and CHEAP ways to CUT the Orion's mass

The "experts" strike again... >>> "Direct" version of my "open Service Module" on NSF >>>
my April 25, 2007 article:

NSF (FOUR months LATER) August 16, 2007 thread:

FOUR months LATER... like between my "FAST-SLV" and "Direct"...

the concept looks a bit radical

my latest suggestion to solve the Ares-I/Orion problems, a "Family of Orions":http://www.gaetanomarano.it/articles/031easyways.html
the concept looks a bit radical
we don't need all three versions now, since the orbital version must be ready to fly within 6-7 years, the lunar version within 12-15 years and the Mars version within 30+ years...

I've redesigned my ghostNASA.com Blog and changed its purpose from a "virtual Space Agency" to a place where publish my opinions about Space (of course, there is a link to NewMars in the blog's home page)

as explained in this article:
http://www.ghostnasa.com/posts/004nasaesas.html
the recent NASA decisions have put a big TOMBSTONE on ALL "alternative" ESAS rockets
the main consequence of the DEFINITIVE choice to adopt the current Ares-I design, is that every (present or future) problem to match the Ares-I power with the Orion weight, can't be solved adding more power to the Ares-I (changing its design or the full rocket) but ONLY cutting the Orion's mass in different ways, like those I suggest in my article:
http://www.gaetanomarano.it/articles/031easyways.html
and this is my opinion about the Lunar Helium-3 mining:
