Trying to have a more regular role but yeah. Computer access is sporadic at best. smile

Got those spammers, though.

Re: Spammer

I think we have all seen spammer on this board. I have seen three or four different spammers on this board myself before there post were deleted. Two of those were sex sites, big boobs and something else.

When I first see them, it generally take one to three days before most of them get deleted.

We're pretty busy guys. sad

I'm trying to be around often but it's physically impossible (sporadic internet access). I'd appoint more moderators but I gotta get the trust issue down first. Every time I appoint new moderators it's people I know well.

Re: Spammer

If I just blocked all people who signed up with an email address from China, we wouldn't have these people. They're clearly manual signups.

Re: Spammer

Is there a way to let genuine users from China sign up?

Re: Spammer

Well, that's what's happening. They're geniune users! wink

Ain't getting no bots that's for sure (300-400 a day!). Pretty much no way around a human signup. I wasn't going to block China from signing up, but if you guys want me to, I think I can. tongue

,

I would be glad to become a mod for Newmars

And maybe some sort of 'spammer vote' for the user's first 15 posts or so, like on their post, a mini poll saying 'mark this post as spam', and if it is, people camn vote, more than x number of votes and you (josh) get an e-mail?

Really, what's up with all of the completely unused members.  Over 1/3 (13/33 pages of users) has no posts.

Re: Spammer

In some forums I believe if you don't post after signing up for a while your account gets deleted.

And they could be spammers, jumpboy11j.

This is not all that uncommon when it comes to blog or forum sites...

Indeed. And there are many many more people who read the forum that are not registered at all. Latest estimate is about 30,000 people per month.

Re: Spammer

Is this a new generation of spammers?

First this message appeared from a new user (john111)

Then this message was posted from another new user (mattew72) in another topic.

Maybe both need blasting and disposal.

Re: Spammer

I'd say someone invented a technique 'dry ice blasting' and wanted to advertize it to someone.  I'm guessing that this is real-person spam, not a spambot.  I'd say delete them.
