Re: Spammer

BTW, Marzio was a clear spammer, I didn't even question his posts, all of them are now removed from the database, and he's deleted for good. He had a spam email address but signed up in spring of '06, long before we started this policy.

Re: Spammer

600 spammers, 1 month. 6 legitimate users. 1 in 100! I gotta add something to this to keep these bastards out. I just... haven't had the time! Grrr!

Re: Spammer

I noticed. I think the user logged in and then the next day (while attempting to hit all the space forums they could find no doubt) reregistered to repost the same thing. They apologized for the double post, so, I imagine that it's okay. I'll just leave them be for now, hopefully they won't get out of hand like other posters. smile

(I'm keeping an eye out, and the new anti-spammer software is amazing.)

Re: Spammer

bsdwork is a spammer
http://newmars.com/forums/profile.php?m … ile&u=2785

he is making random posts each with a single link to generally objectionable sites.  I have been removing the link, but I'm sure he never checks his previous posts.

Re: Spammer

You sure? I only saw him link in the last post, and it was kind of ontopic but questionable... I hesitated to remove the link myself
Did he post links in the other two posts too?

If not, maybe it was just a case of bad judgement...

OTOH, If he did post spam on the other posts , burn banhammer baby burn

It has been so long since we had spammers on the site so is the software broken or not updating?

I think the spammers are just going through the whole sign-up process.

Re: Spammer

It seems as if Lschl13 may be some sort of spammer.  They seem to need to propose ridiculous things, such as that you need an atmosphere to have gravity, and that mars can be terraformed in about 5 years, my extrapolation from what they said, with 250 kg of water and 50 kg of tree seeds.  Don't just delete their account, please, as they may just be mmisguided, but maybe try to get  them to see reason, or check their sources a little harder before posting with 'backup from nasa data'

I think he's either just misguided or maybe a 'troll' (people that post stuff they know themselves is wrong, just to stir up discussions and confusion etc.). No reason to ban him, as long as he keeps it civil (I know, the last reply wasn't exactly friendly, but let's wait and see...)
