Asteroid Watch

This topic is offered for NewMars members who might like to report news about asteroids in general...

We have topics about individual asteroids, or about how asteroids might become part of the Solar System economy.

This topic is available for news about asteroids that will pass Earth, or in other ways are worth noting.

The link in this post was sent by a relative.

https://www.cnn.com/2026/05/18/science/ … id=ios_app

The article includes discussion of the difficulty of determining the size of the object.

The object is thought to be on the order of two school buses in size, but the reflectivity of the object is uncertain.

I suspect that in the not too distant future all such near Earth objects will be captured and harvested.
