A rocket company got one day’s notice - then launched for the US Space Force
Firefly pulled off a launch for the United States Space Force with only 24 hours’ notice, crushing the previous 21-day responsive launch record. The company had to integrate the payload, seal the fairing, move the rocket, fuel it, handle launch paperwork and hit a tight launch window. Engineers even practiced the process repeatedly, counted bolts, adjusted hardware and worked like a pit crew to save minutes. The result showed why rapid space launch is becoming a serious military priority when satellites can be lost, replaced or inspected on almost no warning.
This company has been launching small payloads for a while. It seems to me the company deserves it's own topic.
