Voyager 1 is Alive and Well (although scarred a bit)

A relative sent this report by Ashley Strickland of CNN...

It is the best written of a number that have appeared recently, in my judgement:

https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/22/world/vo … id=ios_app

The details of how memory is / was managed are of potential interest to deep-dive programmers.

A hopeful note at the end of the report is that (apparently) a few young people have decided to take an interest in the every increasing problem of how to keep that early computing technology working.

Re: Voyager 1 is Alive and Well (although scarred a bit)

CNN posted an update on the Voyagers today:

https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/05/science/ … index.html

NASA hopes to keep the probes running until 2030 by dropping instruments as power from the RTG falls.
