Online Orrery

https://www.theplanetstoday.com/

The web site above offers an online replacement for the Planetica Mechanical Orrery.

The original Planetica was invented and manufactured in France, but it expired id 2019.

A replacement was manufactured to last until 2049, but (apparently) it is no longer manufactured.

The Planets Today web site has some advantages over the mechanical device.

In particular, it allows the user to advance the date to see the upcoming lunar occultation of Mars that will occur on December 8th.

On December 8th, Mars will be in what the ancients called "Opposition" because at the time, they thought the Earth was the center of the Universe.

Mars and the Sun will be on opposite sides of the Earth on December 8, 2022, Earth time.
