Who would benefit from a Nulcear Exchange between US-Russia?

Cui Bono?
an almost random country like Vietnam for example?
Or maybe none benefits

This is a fictional story, post Apocalypse scifi.

Global tensions have escalated the past years, there is a War in Ukraine and the head of the Russian Space Agency Dmitry Rogozin might be best described as an idiot. This is not my plot for a movie I believe this scenario has been done many times in faction. I believe an entertainment story already told in a Fictional Book 'Sum of All Fears' Tom Clancy who spends a lot of time hanging with clown spooks made money off this idea. He wrote about this scenario, in his mind  the people who would benefit were a fictional terrorist group a mix of Palestinians, Jewish Radicals, a German Red Marxist Terrorist and a White-Sioux Indian type terrorist guys and a maybe another Iranian Saudi German mixed race Marxist and  a Native American dug dealer was also part of this terrorist group that wanted to make Russians and the USA Nuke each other and reshape the world into a Palestine Jewish Arab German Native American Marxist world...? in the movie adaptation they simplify his motley bunch of diverse terrorists and blame the whole thing on a Euro Nationalist, a Jörg Haider type figure played by British actor Alan Bates, I think Tom Clancy died about 7 years ago? Clancy sometimes wrote book entertaining books but his politics sometimes sucked, he always had this smug or angry Bill O Rielly type expression on his face, he was a bit of a nut and constantly would make excuses for the NeoCon Bush Jnr and the censorship of the 28 Pages and even suggested that left or Democrats or US-Communists in the United States were responsible the 911 attacks due to them not supporting the CIA's pedophile Finders program enough or not supporting the FBI idiots which forgot to do a last second 'Switcheroo' and gave the 1993 WTC islamic jihad guys bombs, or Tom blamed Lefties for NOT giving enough support to Reagan's speeches for the mujaheddin in Afghanistan, Clancy's political thing was to blame Communists for everything even imagined up fictional Communists. Tom Clancy possibly had issues with his Roman Catholic faith and felt he was more hated than black people were hated or homosexuals were hated, Clancy although rich from writing trashy jamesbond style novels probably died a confused miserable man with a useless heart that was ready to quit, in his fictional book and movie before Russian and America Nuke each other there is a happy ending so the terrorist group / Austrian guy gets killed and entire Planet Earth is saved. The Apoclaypse Austrian Moon-Nazi plot feels like it could come from a Comicbook Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode or The Postman or maybe at times it is done ok like 'Arlington Road'. As silly as Tom Clancy sounds he could write great ' The Hunt for Red October' is a fantastic book and movie, I enjoyed . His book and movie is a lot better than wacky scifi stuff from Doctor Who, Tim Burton's comical 'Mars Attacks!' or more credible than Army of the Dead zombie nuclear apocalypse stories, sometimes Michael Crichton would write similar Doomsday stories but with time travel, eco-terrorists and dinosaurs who plot mass murder. The Day After is an American post-apocalyptic television film that aired in the early 1980s shocked people at its time and was praised for its fx and gritty realism, film ends with actor John Lithgow's character repeatedly trying to contact other survivors with a shortwave radio, the same US movie was later broadcast on the Soviet Union's state TV in 1987. The film featured in the news media on such covers like TIME Magazine and Newsweek, it might have influenced Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and their plans to Reduce Nuclear Weapons.

How bad is a Nuke exchange, we can not answer this because we have never seen it, we do not know. In the ancient history of our planet the Earth has experienced worse but this bad thing might happen in a fictional book or in a theoretical scenario. So let's play out a 'What If' horror story, Doomsday Clock is a real symbol that represents the likelihood of a man-made global catastrophe, in the opinion of the members of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists they have moved it forwards in recent months, some think Putin might be ill or on steroids or just plain crazy.

Perhaps if the worst happened many US cities could be hit millions of people dead, Biden and Kamala might seem a little incompetent at time or sleepy but make no mistake the US has the most powerful military on Earth, the USA would respond overwhelmingly. It's possible the British, French would also be hit, there would be some Radiation Sickness Deaths, most of the deaths would be Russia, would Russian people and the Russian language survive after this? North America and Europe would have big loss, however Pakistan and India might actually be stupid enough to go at it. With no world police, no UN building, no officialdom around the politico-religion gangs would look at the Middle East and there could be massive Civil Wars once again and shifts of political power with local Arab Semitic Armenian Turkic Persian Iranian revolutions and more millions dying. It might take someone to do something stupid, once that initial threshold is crossed, things go downhill quickly. I have read that Cheyenne Mountain Complex can take one direct hit, its possible things, big industrial items, tech production might survive but in a broken post Apocalypse America there could be factions fighting or outsiders from Canada or Brazil or the U.N now arriving on the shores with Food Aid and arrive with military to push their political and military influence and reshape a Post-Apocalyse world and re-shape America herself, if America turned on itself with garbs for power the resulting Civil War might even start killing more than your first Missile Exchange. Most of Russia would be utterly destroyed, it might not ever truly recover. Looking at Aussie Wildfire storms and the bombing of Hiroshima and Hamburg they made models and a hypothesis is based on the fact that such fires can inject soot into the stratosphere, where it can block some direct sunlight from reaching the surface, it would cause global cooling and the resulting cooling would lead to widespread crop failure and famine. From the clouds thick, black globs with a texture like oil, will fall from the sky and they might kill you. There will be parts of walls and roads with atomic shadows in them, people's shadows vaporized into a wall like a ghostly image, recording their last moment...were they eating, doing a text message, hanging out the clothes washing, chatting on the phone, this exact moment will be recorded in a black ghostly flash, thousands of mechanical clocks will be stopped at the exact moment, some off the grid religion type Preppers might be ready when the power grid fails and it will collapse electric devices will be destroyed by an EMP, do I need to point out there would be a Global Money Crisis or Stock Market Crash.

The whole thing might rival 536 one of the worst year of the worst years in human recorded history to be alive,  we are still not sure what caused this maybe a big Volcano in Greece, in the America and in Asia all going off at the same time, an Iceland Volcano also took some blame by scientists but it made it too Cold to Grow Food. A lesser worry some increased death and skin cancers will increase across Far North and Far South community as the Ozone Layer will Be Torn Apart, however Nordic plants can not wear clothes or shelter from the Sun increased UV hits cold resilient crops they will become weaker, plants die and more famine, Widespread Starvation in many regions. There will be change how clouds are formed, dry places could become wet, and rainy places become cold or dry, making the Weatehr change its patterns or much more efficient at producing rain, expect massive changes and heavy storms. Chemical Radiation will Enter the Food Cain and eventually Enter Our Bones. I'm not sure if I need to say this but there would be a supply chain crisis, economies collapse and city fires would spread to fields and forest there would be massive inferno, dust and particles would enter the atmosphere for months, you are talking hundreds of millions dead. I don't know exactly why but I don't really see Latin America getting it together in a post Nuclear exchange world, Africa would suffer but many years later as things get back to some form of normality, Africa could continue just being Africa and perhaps Western culture its years of history and arts might survive in far off out of the way places in Iceland or New Zealand or in a Swiss bunker or some place. Nobody on Earth would truly benefit from the War, however the ones that Nuke each other will come out worst. As the medical system starts to collapse Earth could be hit by another Corona or smallpox or Black Death type plague or virus, if fact something might get released from some Russia or US Lab as things start to fail. Big Industrial powers that avoid the war like Japan and China would possibly inherit the Earth. Incredibly, there still would be some nuclear warheads left over after all this devastation, maybe these bombs would remain in play or outside people would try invade America or Russia afterwards to secure the missing bombs.

With a chunk of the planet going back to medieval times or worse, would those that survive strong with tech for example Japan, Philippines, Norway, Argentina, New Zealand or China and other countries with surviving tech and Rocket Ranges, they might have  a Navy that survives and suddenly the are more powerful, they too would also have famine and supply chain crisis but would they now awaken to a strange new Post Apocalypse Political world. I believe there is something unique to Russia and America taht started the Space Race and something unique to the United States that helped them win the SpaceRace during the ColdWar but would Space exploration truly continue with these powers? Asia does invest in science but is not known to be as frontier like or driven to explore like Western culture, in a new Dystopia world would they even bother investing in going to Titan or Europa or invest in Mars colonization?

Re: Who would benefit from a Nulcear Exchange between US-Russia?

I remember I did once watch an entertaining tv show on this scenario, 'Jericho' its called not quiet a Russia vs America Nuclear exchange but a bunch of radicals. In the show you are never really told who did it, maybe from the Middle East and North Korea and Anarchist radicals within America itself managed to smuggle bombs or build nuclear bombs inside and take down the government. An out of the way town / village in Kansas is left in the dark, locals are seeing a mushroom cloud over nearby Denver, Colorado seems gone and people spend the tv series trying to figure out what was going on and form a new government or just look after themselves. You are never truly told who the terrorists / attackers were, it stars actors like Skeet Ulrich from the 'Scream' movie, it has Lennie James and Clare Carey from the Stargate franchise and Walking Dead and actor Gerald McRaney. However the show is also something of a soap opera, sometimes it feels like a terrorist mystery drama like a Jack Bauer '24' thing. Yet it keeps having drama soap moments perhaps the reality of a bombed out city is too brutal to put on tv. I think the show was also put on a bad timeslot, it didn't pull ratings and culturally the marketing hype was replaced with odd occult things like Supernatural, the weird serial killer show Dexter, crime drams like The Wire, or dumb sitcoms like Two and a Half Men,  the Hedonist degenerate True Blood or 'Weeds' or replaced by superhero comicbook soap operas like Smallville and scifi cult hits like Battlestar Galactica, this also has a Doomsday plot but with space robots and humans doing that whole Mormon migration thing, the re-imagined show is more gritty and less religious than Glen Larsons Battlestar. I think most people like tv for entertainment and drama and escapism, not many would watch a War drama a show on 'Chemistry' or NASA documentary. 'Band of Brothers' for example is a great show, it would easily rank up there but its not something everyone would watch while they might like to watch 'Knots Landing' an Aussie soap or a foreign Spanish language soap opera or laugh and be entertained by South Park or 'the Simpsons'. Maybe a gritty show would do better today, less need for timeslots and Nielsen Ratings with modern modern tv, downloads and i-tunes, Paramount+ , Disney Plus, and netflix and hulu.

Here is a copy of a 'gritty' realistic blog post from Bosnia, I'm not sure if its true but it sounds like it could be

I am from Bosnia. Between 1992 and 1995, it was hell.
https://www.silverdoctors.com/gold/gold … in-bosnia/

For one year, I lived and survived in a city with 6,000 people without water, electricity, gasoline, medical help, civil defense, distribution service, any kind of traditional service or centralized rule.
Money soon became worthless.  We returned to an exchange.  For a tin can of tushonka (think Soviet spam), you could have a woman.
Arms, ammunition, candles, lighters, antibiotics, gasoline, batteries and food.  We fought for these things like animals.
In these situations, it all changes. Men become monsters.
Strength was in numbers.  For a man living alone, getting killed and robbed would be just a matter of time, even if he was armed.
The following is my experience… .

Our city was blockaded by the army; and for one year, life in the city turned into total crap. We had no army, no police. We only had armed groups; those armed protected their homes and families.
When it all started, some of us were better prepared. But most of the neighbors’ families had enough food only for a few days. Some had pistols; a few had AK-47s or shotguns.

After a month or two, gangs started operating, destroying everything. Hospitals, for example, turned into slaughterhouses. There was no more police. About 80 percent of the hospital staff were gone. I got lucky. My family at the time was fairly large (15 people in a large house, six pistols, three AKs), and we survived (most of us, at least).

The Americans dropped MREs every 10 days to help blockaded cities. This was never enough. Some — very few — had gardens. It took three months for the first rumors to spread of men dying from hunger and cold. We removed all the doors, the window frames from abandoned houses, ripped up the floors and burned the furniture for heat. Many died from diseases, especially from the water (two from my own family). We drank mostly rainwater, ate pigeons and even rats.

Money soon became worthless. We returned to an exchange. For a tin can of tushonka (think Soviet spam), you could have a woman. (It is hard to speak of it, but it is true.) Most of the women who sold themselves were desperate mothers.

Arms, ammunition, candles, lighters, antibiotics, gasoline, batteries and food. We fought for these things like animals. In these situations, it all changes. Men become monsters. It was disgusting.

Strength was in numbers. A man living alone getting killed and robbed would be just a matter of time, even if he was armed.

Today, me and my family are well-prepared, I am well-armed. I have experience.

It does not matter what will happen: an earthquake, a war, a tsunami, aliens, terrorists, economic collapse, uprising. The important part is that something will happen.

Here’s my experience: You can’t make it on your own. Don’t stay apart from your family; prepare together, choose reliable friends.

The city was divided into communities along streets. Our street (15 to 20 homes) had patrols (five armed men every week) to watch for gangs and for our enemies.

All the exchanges occurred in the street. About 5 kilometers away was an entire street for trading, all well-organized; but going there was too dangerous because of the snipers. You could also get robbed by bandits. I only went there twice, when I needed something really rare (list of medicine, mainly antibiotics, of the French original of the texts).

Nobody used automobiles in the city: The streets were blocked by wreckage and by abandoned cars. Gasoline was very expensive. If one needed to go somewhere, that was done at night. Never travel alone or in groups that were too big — always two to three men. All armed, travel swift, in the shadows, cross streets through ruins, not along open streets.

There were many gangs 10 to 15 men strong, some as large as 50 men. But there were also many normal men, like you and me, fathers and grandfathers, who killed and robbed. There were no “good” and “bad” men. Most were in the middle and ready for the worst
